Summary: "But why so cryptic then?"
The note was taped to the screen of Carson's laptop when he opened it. He frowned at the computer printed note, picking it up and turning it over. Nothing was written on it but a nonsensical phrase: "Cartes-blanches provoke jest phd no".
Carson tilted his head, trying to determine some meaning in the note, but he hadn't thought of anything before he was called away.
A second note appeared on his computer a week later. "Cartes-blanches kosher vend jot pop." Carson set the two notes side by side on his desk and tried to figure out the meaning. He set them aside after a few hours, thinking that he'd come back to them later.
But he didn't think about them again until he got a third note. "Cartes-blanches doth eke von pops jr."
He was looking at the three notes when Radek came in with the centrifuge he'd repaired. Setting on a nearby table, he looked over at Carson. "Something wrong?"
Carson looked up. "I don't know. Someone has been leaving me cryptic notes."
Radek came over and looked at them, pushing his glasses up on his nose. "Perhaps someone does not want their message saved on the e-mail servers?" he asked as he looked at the notes.
"Possible," Carson conceded. "But why so cryptic then?"
Radek turned one toward him more and blinked. "I think perhaps you should talk to Colonel Sheppard."
Carson looked at Radek curiously. "I don't think I need to bother the colonel with this."
Radek smiled at Carson and patted his shoulder. "You should talk to Colonel Sheppard," he said before he left the room.
Puzzled, Carson gathered up the notes and went in search of his lover. He found John in his office, doing paperwork. He looked up and smiled when Carson walked in. "What's going on, Carson?"
"Radek said I should come talk to you," he said. When John frowned, Carson handed John the notes. "I've been receiving these."
John looked at them and back up at Carson. "Zelenka is a very smart man."
"You left these notes?"
"Well, with Earth monitoring our e-mails more, I couldn't very well send you these notes over the servers, even in anagram form," John said with a grin.
Carson looked down at the notes, then back up as John came around the desk to sit on the edge, pulling Carson into his embrace. Carson went willingly. "Anagrams?" he asked. "What do they mean?"
John grinned and kissed the tip of Carson's nose. "John Sheppard Loves Carson Beckett."
Carson shook his head. "Only you, love."
John grinned and kissed Carson gently. "Only for you."
