This was fun. I became obsessed with this song for a while, and in result, saw Stephanie Block in The Pirate Queen last week. She signed my program and gave me a hug!! :)

Never Neverland (Fly Away) from the musical Piece. Animation from Disney's Peter Pan:

Very nice! But one problem I have with the song....it's second to the right and straight on til morning, as I recall.

yeah, there's a lot of debate on that... I guess the original went:

"And it's second to the left and straight on til morning.
Or was it second to the right, and straight on til morning?
To my Never Neverland"

I dunno what's up with it...

From the actual story (We have the book)

" 'Second to the right, and straight on till morning.'
That, Peter had told Wendy, was the way to the Neverland; but even birds, carrying maps and consulting them at windy corners, could not have sighted it with these instructions."

So unless she purposefully did it wrong, because I guess she's old and forgotten the way, I'm still going to be fussy. :P

Well, if we MUST be technical... (I have the book as well. Just checked it out of the library last week)

The first mention is:
"'Second to the right,' said Peter, 'and then straight on till morning.'
'What a funny address!'
Peter had a sinking. For the first time he felt that perhaps it was a funny address" (Barrie 37).

and then, yes, your quote followed by "Peter, you see, just said anything that came into his head" (Barrie 53).

but in the song written by Scott Alan for the musical Piece, it was as I said before: "And it's second to the left and straight on 'til morning
Or was it second to the right and straight on 'til morning?"

...Still doesn't explain why she said it the way she did, but ya know, pointless arguments are always fun! :)

And just for fun (because the quote reminds me of memories with you): "To put it with brutal frankness, there never was a cockier boy" (Barrie 40).
