I suspect this would have more significance if I could recognise them.

Mercenary and terrorist who got small children to shoot their parents to join a "holy war," then switched sides and apparently killed most of them off. Loves war and fighting. Killed six named characters within four or five episodes, responsible for the deaths of several of the main characters' family members. Director-stated to be tied with Soma's mentor as "best pilot in season one." Even the android final boss of the series called him inhuman. Last seen blowing up an entire country.
