Don't take too long to think about it. 15 books you've read that will always stick with you. They don't have to be the greatest books you've ever read, just the ones that stick with you. First 15 you can recall in no more than 15 minutes.
1) Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert M Pirsig
Really opened my eyes to a lot of stuff when I was a teen.
2) Funny Business - Bronnie Cunningham
Glorious book full of all sorts of esoterica, poetry, puzzles and Quentin Blake illustrations. I got it when I was about 5 and I've loved it ever since.
3) The Last Battle - C S Lewis
Curiously moral relativist tale from the Narnian Chronicles. Thought-provoking and evocative.
4) What Katy Did - Susan Coolidge
Cheesy to re-read as an adult, but I read it many times as a young 'un.
5) The Hitch-hikers trilogy - Douglas Adams
This is probably my desert island pick. So much pleasure and inspiration in so little space.
6) Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway - Susan Jeffers
Self-help books are a pretty horrible genre, but this is a great example and gave me a real useful bit of vocabulary - the Chatterbox.
7) The Mr Men books - Roger Hargreaves
Can't pick just one, but these are great in so so many ways :-)
8) What is the Name of This Book - Raymond Smullyan
This guy gives fabulously entertaining introductions to logic
9) The Time and Space of Uncle Albert - Russell Stannard
Accessible and fun introduction to Einstein's theories.
10) Flying Under Bridges - Sandi Toksvig
Actually made me cry. Fabulous for anyone who is vaguely right-on.
11) The Whizzkid's Handbook - Peter Eldin
Explains far too much about my sense of humour.
12)Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl
Pure fun. Always nice to see people get their just desserts, as it were.
13)1066 and All That - Sellars and Yeatman
If you haven't read this, please do. Other things will mysteriously start making sense.
14)The Bumblebee Flies Anyway - Robert Cormier
Scary as hell, but *utterly* compelling.
15)Charlotte's Web - E White
Gorgeous, tragic and uplifting. And about a *spider*. ////\OO/\\\\
