“Oppa!”

Leeteuk’s head snapped towards the direction of the hospital’s entrance, surprised to hear the voice of a certain kid leader who was supposedly in Japan. It didn’t surprise him, however, when he saw SNSD’s shikshin running down the hall with Taeyeon and everyone else right behind her. Yes, he did expect Sooyoung to fly herself back to Korea once she heard about what happened but it was kind of stupid of him to assume that the rest of SNSD wouldn’t come with her.

“Soo!” Donghae caught her in his arms before she could zoom past him.

“Lee Donghae, let me go!” She struggled in his grasp, completely forgetting that he was much stronger than her. “I need to see him!”

Yesung shook his head. “We all can’t see him yet, Soo. He’s being transferred and settled in his room.”

“But how is he?” Jessica asked as soon as she and rest of the girls reached everyone else. “Is Kyuhyun oppa going to be okay?”

Heechul wrapped an arm around her, needing some sort of comfort, assurance and support from his girlfriend. “He’s got wounds and stuff but other than that he’ll be okay.”

Sooyoung finally stopped struggling in Donghae’s arms, opting instead to sob against his chest. “I-I hate him… Why does he wasn’t to worry me like this…”

Donghae shot his friends a helpless look, not knowing what else to do but wrap his arms tighter around her. He knew how hard it was for her to go through the same experience over again. Sooyoung had been the most worried for Kyuhyun when the first accident happened. Though this second accident wasn’t as bad as the first, they knew she was just as worried. And just like the first time, her reactions proved that she did love the evil maknae.

A nearly inaudible sigh escaped Leeteuk’s lips as he finally stood up from the seat, walking over to where Donghae stood and slowly transferred the leggy brunette in his arms. Sitting on the nearest chair he could find, he settled the crying girl on his lap. “Soo… I know you’re worried, scared and all. But if there’s one thing I could be one hundred percent sure of, it’s that Kyu hates worrying you. He hates it when you cry because of him. So you gotta hold it together… for him.”

Sooyoung could only nod in reply but they could see her trying to compose herself despite keeping her face hidden against the Super Junior leader’s chest. Her efforts seemed to relax everyone; each of them finding a seat and something to while waiting for any updates about Kyuhyun. Siwon took the seat to Leeteuk’s left, whispering encouraging words to the woman he fondly considered as his sister, while Seohyun sat to Leeteuk’s right so she could rub her unnie’s back comfortingly. Eunhyuk and Shindong took it upon themselves to sit on the cold floor by Leeteuk’s feet so that they could cheer Sooyoung up.

Sungmin sighed, watching the scene across him. Despite saying and doing all the things that would normally make her laugh like hell, Eunhyuk and Shindong could only get a smile from her. It was better than nothing. He would want to join the pair… if only his jealousy wasn’t threatening to eat him up right there and then. It was more than obvious that she was in love with Kyuhyun… But was it obvious that he, Lee Sungmin, was in love with her? He guessed not. As inappropriate and selfish as it was, Sungmin wondered if she would react the same way if he was in Kyuhyun’s place. But he knew he couldn’t be too selfish especially with the state she was in. So brushing all jealousy and romantic feelings aside, he went over and joined in the efforts to make Sooyoung feel better.

And when they finally succeeded in making her at least chuckle, Sungmin realized how much he missed her laugh

“Uh… Party for Cho Kyuhyun?”

Everyone was on their feet; Leeteuk helping Sooyoung balance herself. “How is he?” Ryeowook asked.

“He’s okay save for some contusions on his arms and legs.” The doctor replied. “You may see him now but-”

He found himself cut off in mid-sentence when most of the group left and headed to Kyuhyun’s room with Sooyoung leading the way; Tiffany and Taeyeon taking the time to smile apologetically and gratefully at the doctor before they followed everyone else. Sooyoung took in a deep breath, grasping the doorknob for a moment before she finally stepped in.

Tears welled up in her eyes once more as she caught sight of the man she loved. Though he was only hooked to an IV line and there were no other machines around, the sight of his wounds was more than enough to break her heart. Mustering all the courage and strength she needed, Sooyoung neared the hospital bed and sat on a chair on Kyuhyun’s left side. Everyone else entered the room after her and found their respective places.

“Oppa…” Sooyoung slowly grasped his hand in hers, pulling her seat closer to the bed. “Oppa…”

Carefully dropping his hand, the shikshin gently rested her head on Kyuhyun’s chest just above where his heart is. The steady, strong beating of his heart was all she could concentrate on. His heartbeats gave her the reassurance that he would be okay. This was his second accident and her second reminder of how she could easily lose him. It was so close… too close.

“S-Soo?”

She had been too busy dwelling in her thoughts that she failed to notice that a hand was caressing the top of her head. Raising her head, her eyes widened at the sight that welcomed her. “Oppa!”

Kyuhyun flashed her the best evil smirk he could muster, gingerly cupping her face with his right hand. “You missed me this much?”

But instead of getting a sarcastic comment or a sermon from her, he found himself on the receiving end of the biggest shock of his life. Sooyoung lifted herself from her seat, leaning forward to press her lips on his. His eyes looked like they were going to pop out of their sockets as he felt her warm, soft lips against his own. Everyone around them watched in stunned silence; their reactions appearing on their faces when Kyuhyun closed his eyes and kissed her back.

Hyoyeon rolled her eyes good naturedly, grasping Eunhyuk’s hand. “I think this is our signal to go.”

Little by little, the members of Super Junior and SNSD piled out of the hospital room. Sungmin spared one last glance at the park, seeing the moment they pulled apart from the kiss. The sound of her giggles reached his ears as he was the last to step out of the room. Despite the silence breaking of his heart, her laughter made things easier for him

Her laughter meant that she was happy.

That was all he could ever ask for.
