Why, hello, Rita dear~
I have a bit of a proposition for you, if you care to hear it~
[And yeah, that's all he's saying, because he loves to be purposefully vague.]
Reply
Don't call me that.
And what is it?
Reply
Might you be interested in a...simple information exchange~?
Reply
Well, yeah. I was the one who suggested it in the first place, right? Why would I do that if I wasn't in the first place?
Reply
[Chuckles]
I was merely being polite~
Reply
D-don't call me that. If you're really being polite, then stop that!
...
Ugh. Let's just get this started, okay? Ask me whatever, and I'll see if I can find an answer. Or do you just want me to rant off anything interesting until you've had enough, or something?
Reply
Very well, very well~
I shall ask you a question, and then you may ask me one in return, and I shall respond.
[He's not really waiting for her to agree to the 'terms'.]
Tell me...Do you know anything about this supposed barrier around the city~?
Reply
The barrier? You touch it, you get zapped. The barrier then becomes visible, and it looks kinda like a wall with glyphs, though you probably know that already. Sources say that there's a shop near the fountain that sells these 'City Passes' which lets you pass through the barrier unharmed. It costs 2 dreams, by the way, and apparently after you dream twice, it appears, or something. Never tried it out myself, but it's not like I can force myself to dream.
Beyond the barrier is desert, and stuff. People have tried going out there, but apparently, the going's tough. We haven't gotten very far in that investigation, really, so I don't know much more than that.
[She pauses.]
Satisfied? Because I want to know - what kind of technology is your world capable of?
Reply
Is that so?
Dreams...That is quite intriguing.
[He nods, smirking.]
Ahh~ I'm afraid you shall be dissapointed. It would appear that my world is far behind when it comes to such things.
[He pauses, humming to himself and thinking.]
Devices powered by electricity...I had never heard of such a thing before here. Clockwork, basic mechanisms, however, we do have.
[Smirks some more.]
Is that satisfactory in turn~?
Dreams are the currency of this world, then?
[He doesn't seem as concerned about the answer to this question, he just wants a confirmation.]
Reply
... You could say that. We're still trying to figure out why a bunch of ghosts and a floating castle have need for dreams. There was this theory that dreams are what powers this dimension, since anyone who hasn't dreamed for a good amount of time 'disappear', for the lack of a better definition.
[Damn that smiiirk. >((]
... I don't think this exchange is going to be a fair one, since frankly enough, getting answers out of you is like pulling teeth, and the stuff I want to know, I doubt you'd cough it willingly. How about we do it this way: I'll provide you information, and you toss me back theories you might have on the matter, and we'll call it even?
Reply
[Also not denying that unfair exchange accusation, since really, he set it up to be unfair. 8D]
I have no objections~
Perhaps you could enlighten me as to some of your current theories, then? If we are to make progress, it would be a disadvantage to not know them~
[And he's pulling out the candy again, slowly unwrapping it.]
Reply
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you don't.
And like hell I'm giving you any of mine. But I can provide you with information on what's known so far, and you can derive a couple for me.
For example, food is unnecessary here, as well as water. You don't need to eat or drink. Aging may also be skewed, though we don't have a working theory yet on why, nor have we stayed around long enough to get anything conclusive, really. And death is impermanent, so apparently after you die, you come right back to life again.
Thoughts?

My, my~
Very well, Rita dear, I understand entirely~
[What, exactly, he understands he is not saying. And he pops the sucker in his mouth, but his words are still very understandable.]
It seems quite clear to me, truly, but...I must ask that you clarify one point for me. Aging is skewed, here?
Reply
Stop that.
[... How does that guy sound intelligible even with a sucker in his mouth? .___. Impressed Rita is impressed.]
Skewed, from what I take it. A woman, Jaina, she's been here for a while, but she hasn't noticed any signs of aging. But then again, this kid, Oz, I think, he told me that he thought he grew an inch. I'm getting different accounts here - so I'm going to have to run an experiment on this, but I can't write off the possibility that something's off.
Reply
[And it's all the practice, but he's glad that this little skill impresses her so, out of all of his others. xP]
I see...
[This, however, will be barely intelligible, considering he's mumbling with the sucker in his mouth.]
So like the Abyss...
[Then he chuckles.]
Well, now, perhaps it is not so strange. We do not need to eat, nor drink in our dreams. And any growth that occurs is not real, no~?
As for death...That is a shame.
Reply
[She totally doesn't catch that, as is about to demand an explanation when what he says next stops her cold. And it's not because of the sucker. :/]
... Not real? ... I've never thought about it that way-
[Mulling over what he's said. You can see her mumbling off-screen, her pen scribbling at an alarming rate. Great, Break, you've just sent her off on a tangent. :/]
