Die and survive together.
Kyuhyun was the most popular student in a prestigious school in Seoul. As the son of the most successful CEO in Korea, his duty was to keep his name clean from any blemishes. That was the only thing his father wanted him to do but why does he find it burdensome? He doesn't find it hard to do but once he found the one that made his heart race, he promised himself that he would do anything for her. She wasn't known to everyone but she was popular with her fellow juniors. Although she was a year younger than her, that wouldn't be a hindrance for his emotions. It was uncontrollable.
They met in the café where she works part time. She was the head waitress. It was a different kind of café. Only boys were allowed inside so all workers are female. There, they were served as masters. A maid was assigned in two tables which can hold up to four customers per table. Kyuhyun, with his two companions, were always present in that place. And to his amusement, she was the one who was in-charge for their table. It was true when people say that fate has its own way. They talked to each other and got their numbers. Then, Kyuhyun found out that the waitress was attending the same school.
After their encounter, she begged. She doesn't want it to spread in their school so she asked for something that Kyuhyun want. As the dark lord as he is, he asked her to be his girlfriend until he graduates -which was five months away. It was winter back then so he probably have plans for their future dates. Now, it has been three months since that happened. Kyuhyun told his father about it and he was told to bring her to the mansion as soon as possible. He was overjoyed that she was most likely welcome to be his future wife. The feeling was great until the day finally came for their meeting.
Two weeks after their encounter,
"Who is your father little one? What is his occupation?" Mr. Cho questioned after the tea was served. The two were from school so they were still in their uniform. And as expected, she was nervous as hell but she must answer to be able to keep her relationship with Kyuhyun. "His name is Lee Sungjoo and he owns a factory," She answered honestly. The change of Kyuhyun's father made her worry. The only thing that was calming her was Kyuhyun's hand. Their hands were locked -fingers intertwined. It was enough to keep her warm.
The old man stood up and said in a cold tone, "Leave at once. You are not worthy to be my son's lover." With that statement, he left the hall. Kyuhyun was about to talk back but he was stopped. "It's okay. We don't have to hide the truth, Kyuhyun," She uttered, her voice cracked a bit. It was as soft as a whisper but she was loud enough for him to hear. Tears began rolling down her cheeks. Her hands became colder. It was the first time he saw her cry like that. "I'll take you home, Sungmin," He offered as he helped her stand up, draping his coat over her trembling shoulders.
That's when she realized that it was that easy for rich people to criticize normal people like her.
It has been two months after that incident happened. They were the same couple. Right, they were official. Kyuhyun would be the one who would cheer Sungmin up. People approve of their relationship except for his father. Their relationship was once in the headlines but Kyuhyun succeeded in hiding Sungmin from the media. He wouldn't risk losing her at times like that. He promised her that whatever happens, they will undergo it together. No matter how hard the problem was, love will be their guide out.
~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.
"Want to go somewhere this weekend?" Kyuhyun stared at the sky before resting his head on Sungmin's lap. The week passed by so quickly, they didn't even realize that it was their sixth month anniversary. "Depends, do you have plans?" She tangled her fingers in his brown locks while the former was playing with her free hand. He has been receiving lots of orders from his father. He was like a personal assistant in the house. "I don't, unless you join me to the amusement park with Hyukjae and his so-called best friend, Donghae," He grinned as he sat up to prepare to leave and bring her home.
"It's final, then. What time will we meet?" Sungmin stretched her arms out so that Kyuhyun can pull her up. Once she was on her feet, she grabbed her things only to be snatched by her lover. Pouting in a very adorable way, her lips were deflated by a peck from the latter. "I'll drop by your house at two in the afternoon," He took her hand together with his as he laced their fingers. The former chuckled at the simple action. He was like that. Always the one who gets ahead of someone.
"Now, I should be home before six. I have a meeting to attend to so I don't have the chance to stay with you longer," The man stated while Sungmin just nodded, hating the fact that she can't have him for a long time because of his activities at night. It wasn't new to her, anyways. "Okay," She did her best not to sound sad and she thought that it worked but obviously, it didn't. They started to walk down the road where her house was. "Something wrong?" He inquired, stopping in his tracks to look at her face.
"Nothing. I just feel sad."
"Well, that's different. My baby doesn't get sad without any reason."
"It's really nothing."
"Tell me, please. You know you can't resist my aegyo~"
Sighing, Sungmin finally thought of spilling it to him, "I want to snatch you for dinner. I wanted to cook for you but I don't know where I could." After hearing that statement, Kyuhyun can't help but to feel all soft and mushy inside. She hasn’t made something for him so she was looking for the opportunity to do so. "Why not kidnap me to your house?" He squeezed her hand after stopping when they were on the gate of her house. "You know I can't do that," She whispered, getting her bags from him.
"And why not?" Kyuhyun said, not letting go of her hand. He haven't seen the rest of her place, just the outside which seemed clean and orderly. He can't figure out the real reason for not allowing him to come inside. "I don't want news to pop out saying that you came out of a commoner's house. And I don't think you can make it alive," Sungmin explained honestly but it seemed like the other wasn't believing her. She blew her bangs and smiled, "What about I cook in your dorm tomorrow? I'll just buy the ingredients."
Kyuhyun pulled her for a hug, squishing her petite body with his muscular, "That sound great! I'll wait for you at the gate in school and let's drop by the grocery for the ingredients." When he moved away, he saw her small nod and a soft chuckle. Suddenly, Sungmin's father came out their house with his wife behind him. "Dad, are you heading somewhere?" She asked as she spotted her parents hurrying out the house. Once he heard her voice, he quickly went to her and enveloped them in a tight hug, "Your mom and I will be out for a while. There was an emergency in the factory. We'll be back before midnight."
Sungmin blinked mindlessly, thinking of something that probably happened in the factory. She just nodded so that they can attend to the problem before it gets worse. Then, at the same moment, they left, biding goodbye to the couple who was standing in the same position. "What could have happened?" The former stared at the fading forms of her parents, worrying about his girlfriend more than ever. "Oh, Kyu, I think you should leave now," She said in a depressed tone, randomly changing the topic. It was obvious that she was nervous and scared as hell.
Kyuhyun unconsciously chuckled and planted a kiss on her temple before claiming her lips, "Whatever that is, my baby must stay strong because her hero is always in the rescue." The latter smiled, lifting her head to meet his eyes, those eyes that was always filled with love. She snuggled closer to him, not wanting part ways now that something bad came up. The man's lips curved a small smile as he tucked her brown hair behind her ear, feeling something wet on his chest. "You should go. Sungjin is waiting," He slightly pushed her away although her tear-stained face made him pity her.
"Just call me if you're already home," She wiped her tears with the handkerchief Kyuhyun handed her. When Kyuhyun was out of sight, she felt her phone beep in her skirt's pocket. 'Be strong. I’ll always be here for you,' The brunette silently read, grinning like an idiot. Her feet led her inside her house, surprised to see her brother sleeping on living room floor. She knelt down, shook him by the shoulder and asked why he was acting in that manner, "Sungjin, is everything fine?" Without even looking at his sister, he stood up and went to his room, "I'm not in the mood to talk to you, noona."
Sungmin heaved a long sigh, "It must be another breakup." She just forget about it because she'd probably bother herself with that issue. It was time to worry about their business. What could've have happened that caused his parents to be terrified? It must be very important. Anyways, she must prepare dinner while her parents are away.
~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.
"What is it, dad?" Kyuhyun asked his father who was facing the big window. He was sure he had his arms crossed because he can't seem to see the older man's reflection due to the darkness of the room. "How many times do I have to tell you to dump her, Kyuhyun?" Mr. Cho impatiently stated as he turned around to open the lights. The smoke from his cigarette made the latter cough.
"No matter what happens, I'm not breaking up with Sungmin, appa," He firmly said as his fists started to feel numb. He was too angry at his own father for forcing him to do something he has no intention to do. "You will have to dump her somehow. I just asked someone to burn down the factory," The former laughed. He knew it was the only thing the Lees rely on. It was full-proof unless Kyuhyun decides to bail.
Kyuhyun couldn't take it anymore so he gave the old man's stomach a blow. The punch was too hard that it sent him across the room. It was now officially a battle between father and son. "What the hell are you thinking?! You know yourself that they don't have companies like us! Why do you have to be so burdensome!" His complaint attracted lots of maids and his mother.
"Kyuhyun, what are you doing?!" Mrs. Cho went to his husband and wiped the blood on his lips. Rolling his eyes in disbelief, he strode where his parents were and spat, "I love her. If you want her, you have to go through me until I die." With that, he exited the room as his phone rang, vibrating in his pocket.
It was her. She could've found out about his father's doing. "Hey, what's up?" He tried his best to keep his voice calm. He should be the strong one. He was already in his room when she replied saying that she wouldn't be able to make it to their dinner date. "Something happened?" Guilt was evident in tone and unfortunately, his voice cracked, swallowing the lump to moisten his dry throat. Does he even have to ask? He perfectly know what happened.
"The factory is in a critical condition. Everything was set on fire even the products that we are about to sell. I'm sorry, Kyu but I have to skip," She was sobbing but she managed to speak straightly. Kyuhyun felt the urge to run to her house and hug her. "Everything will be alright. Just remember what I told you before. Then, maybe I'll see you on Saturday?" He hoped that he could get a positive answer from her despite the situation she was in.
"I'm not yet sure, Kyuhyun. My parents need help and I don't think Sungjin and I can get a job easily."
"I'll help you. And besides, you already have one."
"That's not enough to support my family. I'll just think over the night. I don't to bother you," Sungmin said, clearing her throat before asking him to hang up. Kyuhyun can't do anything but to sigh. The least that he could do was to just sit and watch her get all stressed. "Sleep well, okay? I don't want to see you like a zombie in school," He grinned when she chuckled. It was always different hearing her chuckled on the phone.
"You too. Don't stay up thinking about me like the last time," Sungmin giggled as she remembered the accident that happened long time ago. She almost broke her leg in a play because of her dangerous stunt. Kyuhyun smiled before he lied down on his bed, imagining what her face looks like now, "I won't. But don't expect me not to worry. I have to go now."
"Okay, I understand. I have to prepare for school too. Good night."
"Sleep well. I love you."
"Aigoo~ can't you sleep without any reply for that?"
"Come on, just say it, Ming."
"I love you too, Kyuhyun-ah. Very much. Happy?"
"Absolutely."
"Whatever~ now, I'll hung up."
"Before you do, send me a kiss through the phone," Kyuhyun demanded as he waited for a whine from her but nothing came except for a smooch sound. "There," She laughed cutely before hanging up. The man heaved a long sigh of exasperation as his legs stretched out after planting his phone in his bedside table.
He needs something to do to relieve his stress as soon as possible. His blood can't stop boiling because of what happened earlier. What his parent did was something to be ashamed of. Why do they even have to battle with normal people who don’t even touch a single strand of hair on them?
His parents are perfectly aware of what kind of status she has. It was hard to live in the life she has so why do they have to meddle with her business? They even had the nerve to make it worse for her.
At times like this, Kyuhyun can't think straight. He doesn't know what to do and that makes him so troubled. His organs wouldn't stop churning because of the guilt he feels. He doesn't know if he would attend school tomorrow. He was known for being courageous but it turns around when Sungmin is involved. He wouldn't even dare to show his face to her when his own parents are trying to put their relationship at risk.
He is positive that her parents will call for an investigation and once the police finds out, he'll be in great danger. Now, he really wished that he was never born to have such rich parents.
Then, Sungmin popped in his mind. He made her cry again. It may not be His entire fault but if he broke up with her, none of this would've happened. But again, if he did, he wouldn't be the same right now. He would be suffering and drown in unending pain. She was the one who changed her back to the old Kyuhyun. The one he said was dead. The one who used to be the man who was named as the biggest playboy in school. And, the one Sungmin never saw.
Because of her, he found the real cause of happiness. He experienced it with and through her. The love he gave and received from her. It was refreshing to think about again. The life he has was all about pleasure, nothing else. But with Sungmin, he learned how to wait, how to have something without asking for anything in return and most of all, he learned how to love truly. Thanks to her, a new Kyuhyun was born.
~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.
Sungmin headed to the bathroom after grabbing her towel and fixing her uniform. It was another Friday and she woke up earlier to prepare a lunchbox for Kyuhyun. Since she wouldn't be able to go to his dorm that afternoon, she decided to just make packed lunch for him.
The night wasn't that nice to her. She wasn't able to get enough sleep. Other than that, her eyes are red and puffy and there is no way to cover it. Kyuhyun will certainly reprimand her because of this. Concealing cream wouldn't even do it. It was too swollen.
Once she got in the bathroom to get a hot shower, she instantly opened the shower faucet and bathe. A warm bath that could drift all her problems away. If only that is the way to clear all issues and stuffs. She'd spend her life in the bathroom.
"I bet Kyuhyun is also worried," She said to herself. It was such a stupid idea to call and inform him about it. Now that he knows what happened, he would be bothered too.
Her parents already demanded for a brief investigation and whoever is the person behind this will really get the best of the Lees. They planned to sue the suspect beforehand. This is not a joke and their life depends on it. Mr. and Mrs. Lee are currently in police station to have a thorough discussion with the police. The research must start at once to have the cased solved.
But right now, work is the most important thing to do and look for. Kyuhyun was right about her old job but her salary won't be enough for them to eat at least twice a day. And she thought life was starting to be kind to her.
It was a good thing Kyuhyun was there to support her. He may be against some decisions of hers but she likes the fact that he would be beside her. He might be the only one she's been depending on because without him, she would probably be in a situation not even a masochist would want to experience.
Realizing the time she spent in the bathroom, she went outside to get dressed up. She wrapped her body with a towel and headed to the drawer where her phone was. A message was sent to her.
Morning, babe! Hope you had a good night's sleep~ ^_^
~Kyuhyun-OPPA ;)
Upon reading this message, she felt the urge to throw herself at him and kiss him endlessly. It was very heartwarming to have your boyfriend text you in the morning just to great. Although this is their routine every day, she can't get used to the feeling. She replied-
Morning too, OPPA. Kyu, don't forget to bring my book in history, okay? I have a class with Mr. Park (:
~Jagiya~
Sungmin giggled as she remembered telling Kyuhyun that she has a crush on their history professor, Leeteuk. Kyuhyun knew that it was a joke but of course, he wouldn't give up without a fight so he told her that he was planning to confess to their PE teacher, Ms. Im Yoona. It ended up quickly as expected. Eunhyuk and Donghae were having fun teasing the two about their LOVE QUARREL.
Her thoughts got disturbed when she heard a knock on the door. She went to the door and peeked, knowing that she is only covered by a towel. It was Sungjin who was already dressed up in his uniform, "Noona, breakfast is ready." Sungmin nodded and said she'll come down in a minute.
When Sungjin's gone, Sungmin got dressed, ignoring her phone that rang. As soon as she slipped into her knee-high socks, she grabbed her phone before snatching her shoes in her shoe rack. After that, she ran downstairs and went to the kitchen to prepare his lunchbox.
The message Kyuhyun sent surprised her.
Ming, I'm outside your house. Let me in~
~Oppa
"Aigoo-yah, Sungjin! Kindly open the door for Kyuhyun," Sungmin blew her bangs and waited for her lover to be in sight. Without any hesitation, Kyuhyun entered the house with his things, "Sungjin-ah, it's a long time since I last saw you." He greeted as he hugged his dongsaeng before going to his girlfriend who had her arms crossed, brows creased.
Kyuhyun didn't know what came up to him for having the face to go to her house without her permission. He'd rather not have breakfast than eating with his old folks. He know he would get scolded and his ears had enough. He wanted to make it up to her by accompanying her to school this morning. Sungjin might be walking with them but he knows he isn't the type of person who would butt in their conversation.
"Where's my morning kiss?" He puckered his lips and leaned closer to her, not minding her glares. He's welcome, yes but it was too early in the morning and it will definitely ruin the surprise. "What are you doing here?" Sungmin followed him in the kitchen after giving him a quick kiss on the lips.
"I just want to come with you to school," He said as he sat on the dining chair beside Sungjin who started eating his fill. Sungmin was behind the counter, fixing the egg rolls in the small container. "I can go by myself, Kyu," She pouted as she readied the ingredients for the kimbap. The former stood up and went to where she is, draping an arm around her waist while Sungmin fed him a broken kimbap.
"Tastes good as always," Kyuhyun complimented and pulled her for a kiss. Sungmin got taken aback with that, not to mention Sungjin was watching. "Yah, my brother can see. Stop it," Sungmin slapped him on the arm as she covered her flushed face on the former's chest while the younger one coughed, totally against his sister's statement. He doesn't care much, though. "Aigoo, he is too old for your teachings, Ming. Sungjin here is a grown man now. No more good boy, right?" Kyuhyun turned to the younger as he gave him a meaningful wink.
He was right. That was how his sister treats him when he was in high school and she was in college. Whenever she would bring her boyfriend to their dorm, they would make out even though he would be watching or playing in the living room. Same as always.
The former gave a grin and nod to his hyung. Who was he to deny the fact that he's no longer noona's girl? "Don't teach him to be such a rebel, Kyu. He'll be like you!" Sungmin shrieked, imagining Sungjin as a mean gangster with freaking eyeliner. Kyuhyun gave her a questionable look, what does she mean by that? "I'm gorgeous! Who doesn't want to be me? Girls want me. Guys want to e me. And you," He paused, fixing his gaze on Sungmin's own pair and smiling as if she wasn't sending poisonous glares to him.
"You're desperate," Kyuhyun chuckled, leaving her dumbfounded in the kitchen to shove some spoons of delicious bibimbap. "You just wait, Cho," She playfully retorted and placed the kimbap to finish the lunchbox, satisfied with her work.
"Noona, I'll leave first!" Sungjin called coming from behind, pecking his sister on the cheek and dashing out before Kyuhyun comes after him. Kyuhyun wiped the cheek where the younger planted a kiss, "I'm drawing the line." Sungmin giggled upon hearing the statement of his.
"How can you be all jelly over my brother?" She elbowed him as she gently placed the lunchbox in her bag. Kyuhyun grabbed his vest on the couch to get ready to leave, "I'm not jealous." He firmly stated, imagining that her brother and her hav
e a deep relationship. Shaking his head in annoyance, he felt her hands on his chest. "Right," Sungmin just agreed as she fixed his vest and tie, wondering why he can go to school with that look.
"Let's go. I have something to pass to Mr. Choi before first period," Kyuhyun stated before pulling his lover's skirt lower. It was too high for his liking. He might jump on her in the morning. "It's too high. I might rape you now," He whispered, pressed his body closer and smirked, liking the fact that he made her shiver. The latter felt her cheeks warm up. It wasn't the first time he did that and it was still embarrssing for her.
Without saying anything, Sungmin wore her vest and headed out with all her things.
