Hollow Chapter 12 Part E

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“You know whassthupid?” Ryeowook sipped a bit of Soju and looked over at Henry who had by then seated himself on the ground, leaning back on the large tree trunk. His legs were splayed across the grass and his lips were twisted in a frown so deep, it seemed comical. With two fingers, he was holding up the bottle of soju, inspecting it as though he was seeing such an object for the first time.

“Guhlass boddles.” Ryeowook looked away scoffing, not responding to the boys words. He understood the slurred words being spoken in English but didn’t bother dwelling on the profound realisation that Henry just had.

“I mean,” Henry continued taking no notice of Ryeowook’s disinterest in the subject, “why would you make a bottle with something that breaks so easily…” He sunk down further, pouting and staring at the empty bottle which he had dropped on the ground. He sighed,

“It’s just stupid.” He concluded. “they should make hearts out of rocks or something…muscles? Seriously? Stupid.” Ryeowook looked over to see Henry lean his head back on to the trunk, closing his eyes and breathing slowly and deeply, as if they were the first breaths he had taken in a while. For a brief moment Ryeowook envied the other.  Even in his melancholic state, Henry seemed to have some peace of mind.

You created your own problems, the ever present voice in his head whispered. He didn’t hesitate another second to tip the bottle, letting the liquid flow freely into his mouth.

The first drop of rain landed on his hand. He disregarded it but soon another followed, and then another. He looked over at Henry who had by then had lost all consciousness and was sprawled across the ground, leaning back awkwardly on the trunk. Grudgingly, Ryeowook got up and kneeled beside the young man, and shook him.

“Henry…Henry!” Slowly, two eyes opened narrowly and peered at him, dazed.

“…huh?”  It could have been a whimper.

“Come on, it’s starting to rain” Ryeowook looked up to see that the sky had quickly begun darkening. “We should get you home.” Pulling Henry up, Ryeowook managed to drape the others arm over his shoulder. Grabbing the shopping bags in one hand, Ryeowook held the others waist awkwardly dragging the barely conscious boy down the sidewalk. It had started to drizzle and thankfully, there was no one else at the river. As they almost reached the entrance to one of the main roads, He sat the other down and pulling on the hood of the others sweater he searched for the mask that the other was wearing.

Henry continued to hum a tune as he sat obediently.

“an ‘bop’ goez da wheeezlph- ” Ryeowook put the mask over the younger’s face. Pulling him up they headed towards the main street and Ryeowook, after much trouble, managed to call a cab. Getting to the apartment, he laid the other onto the couch. Zhou Mi wasn’t there but he found a note on the table, written in Mandarin he presumed Zhou Mi had left.

Walking over to one of the windows he found that the rain was still coming down hard. They should make hearts out of rocks or something. He chuckled sadly. What a thought.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The droplets came down like bullets1. Zhou Mi walked towards the apartment briskly, paying no attention to it. His grey jacket had appeared black, soaked.

It was supposed to be over. A closed chapter, but now...

It has a pretty good chance of standing up in court. The jury might believe it, and things aren’t looking too good especially because she…had ended her life.

A tear escaped his eyes, trailing down his cheek, lost between the drops of water that ran down his face. His hands clenched the hem of his jacket, knuckles turning white. When he had walked into the prosecutor’s office that morning, he hadn’t expected this news. The case was going to be appealed? They are claiming Lan was schizophrenic? His aunt’s eye witness testimony would be ruled out? He listened to every word the lawyer had said and yet none of it made any sense.

It’s going to be a battle, but we’ll get through it.

The pouring rain did nothing to cool his raging heart. He couldn’t entertain for a second, the thought of Young Jae walking free.

It is a battle, he thought. His expression morphed into one of a steely determination. And if he lost, if Lan lost, there was one last thing he could do.And nothing in the world could stop him from it.

Authors Note:

You know why I love you guys? Because y’all still read the stupidity I write, are patient in spite of how LATE I am in posting new chapters, and don’t kill me when I write two chapters which can be summarized in one simple sentence: Nothing fucking HAPPENS. Except Henry gets drunk..c’mon I know you’ve all wondered what he’d be like :P

So. I’m not making excuses this time. OTL

Stuff will happen next chapter, more QMi, POSSIBLY the new pairing which…you know...shouldn’t be much of a mystery *points up*, and FINALLY any confusion on Lan’s story will be cleared up and development of the plot

And by the way, I have a AFF account that I post Hollow and some other stories on if you want to check it out:
