I HAVE ARRIVED IN EDINBURGH. IT IS LOVELY AND QUAINT AND I HAVEN'T SLEPT IN 27 HOURS. I am actually hallucinating, which is even less fun when you are being driven on the WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD and are eternally convinced you will run into oncoming traffic :o

I am amazed I made it here. I have no idea what time or day it is or how long I've been ( Read more... )

ahahaha it might have to be really long emails (or get skype! do it!) because I'm going to be too poor to do my laundry regularly, much less send letters ;___;

I wish I could bottle the amazingness of the accents and send them too you :D

omg. edinburgh is my favorite city in the ENTIRE WORLD, and that is no exaggeration. Things to do: Visit JKR's house. If you like famous graves, check out the Kirkyard on the Royal Mile (not the Greyfriar's one, but the one down Canongate) and you'll find Robert Burns, Robert Fergusson, and Adam Smith! Getting a sandwich from Mark and Spencers on Prince St. and then eating it on a bench on the Princes St. gardens while people-watching = THE BEST TIME EVER. Definitely take the open top bus tour almost immediately, if you haven't already! It's so useful for giving you an overview of the area. Line up at the bus stations - it's social law!! Take the bus to Roslyn Chapel! It's sooo beautiful, and only twenty minutes away. Also, if you try haggis let me know, because in the month that I was in Edinburgh, I couldn't get up the nerve. :( Oh god, I miss walking across the North Bridge and just standing in the middle, staring out and feeling the wind whip around you ( ... )

I've only been here 4 days and I've been horribly frazzled, but I'm getting the impression I love this city :D! I've already accidentally ended up at the cafe JKR wrote a bit of HP in. I love graves, and famous graves too! Even better, I actually know how to get to the streets you're naming now, so I will definitely go. the Princes St. gardens are so lovely! I can't wait till I have a spare moment to sit in them...

I tried a sample portion of haggis my second day here (BEFORE knowing what it was, ha) and it was actually really good. VERY rich and sort of...creamy? I'd probably have it again.

Thank you for the tips <3! this is scaryexciting.
