I just...don't like retail. Ah, I remember it now. I was working retail way back in the day in 2001, and it drove me to CONSTRUCTION. And CONSTRUCTION WAS BETTER

As in you could have passed a kidney stone like I did this morning, LOL. That was teh SHIT.
I can't wait for the next one! :D
I feel your retail pain. I did a stint at JCPenney's for a few years and a few Christmases. I confess I could bear it more than I could fast food and the call center, but it still sucked. I don't know what it is about shopping and retail work that seems to bring out the evil in people. Gotta get THE PERFECT GIFT or gotta MAKE THE QUOTA in sales. Shitty co-workers don't help either. Are you working with teens? I swear nothing makes me want to blow my brains out than working with stupid teens who think they know more than you.
But hang in there. It'll all be over by the end of the week. Which at least in the States means that once everyone's returned the things they didn't want, the stores will be dead again.
I managed to dodge working retail for my entire employment record (and given that it somehow manages to pay less than here, I intend to keep it that way.) That being said, it sounds like the stress points are basically the same: venomous customers and insufferable staff. When the best advice I'm coming up with is "Maybe you should just bring the bottle to work with you" I likely shouldn't be offering any. I many, I could come up with various things, like just biting back at the other staffer and treating them how they're treating you, but that very much fits withing the justice/wrath paradigm I pull down. Plus, I don't work well with others. Ah nertz to this, I'm just a cynical prick with anger management issues and a stressful job. So, I will say the one thing I can say: have a Merry Christmas, you've definitely earned at least that much, if not infinitely more.
