So Kat (my sister) got me hooked up with this Fitocracy thing, and I've got to say it's quite the positive influence. I got out of bed this morning, aching all over from the gym session yesterday and not wanting to do my morning crunches and push-ups, but knowing that I'd not have any Fitocracy points for the day (as I'm going to alternate gym days so as not to do too much too soon and put me right off things), I sucked it up and did my small morning workout anyway!
I'm doing 50 crunches and an increasing number of push-ups first thing, I started at 10 push-ups before my feeble arms gave way and I'm trying to increase that by at least 2 per day, so far I've gone from 10 to 14 to 18 to 22 and hope to carry this on until I hit 50. At that point, I'm undecided whether or not to carry on with an increase per day or stick with 50 for now while I increase my fitness.
I did, however, find myself earlier calculating how many days it would take me to break the "1000 push-ups a month" challenge Kat threw down at me, both by staying at 50 (assuming I make it there before I break something!) and by carrying on with the increase of +4 push-ups per day. Needless to say, from my initial thoughts of "I'll never be able to catch up and do that....", I've calculated I can crack 1,000 within 25 or 21 days, depending on daily numbers (25 is with sticking at 50, 21 is with a continued increase per day) and intend to aim for the 1K :)
It's almost like having a gym buddy, but as an online game as well. I like it! :D
