I know a lot of med students and there's no way any of them would ever act like that.I'd say it happens less as attitudes all around improve, but sadly it's still a very real possibility. For example, a friend of mine was referred from Lahti about two years ago. When after a month or so of his appointment with a GP he still hadn't heard anything about it, he started asking around and found out that the chief of medicine had ordered that all references of trans people need to be sent through psychiatric ward first, as opposed to just being sent to TAYS/HYKS, which is what the law requires for them to do. I'd imagine trying to get a reference from Räsänen would be the mental equivalent of bathing in acid water and drying off with a blow torch afterwards.

I'd hate to think about how much more shit hospitals and doctors would get away with if she were the Ministery of Health. Thanks for small miracles I guess.
