Bad Sponge!

Awww, to be back in the land of television again.

Watching this ep I realized that as much as I enjoy the exploits of Dr. McDreamy and Meredith my favorite moments are with the supporting cast, George especially. But more on him later. I wasn't a fan of the pregnancy storyline at first but Sandra Oh - on her march to earn at least a Globe for best supporting - is making me reconsider. That whole scene about Meredith being her "person" was great. And Burke's turnaround was also wonderfully orchestrated. He got a taste of power just when he was feeling rejected by her and that was that.

I'm not so sure about Isabelle's storyline though. She can't fall for jackass this easily. She can wonder and reconsider but she can't fall for him. She's too strong and he's too much fun as a jerk to make him into a lovesick puppy. But moments like his hugging George are welcome. Actually SpongeGeorge ScrubsPants is welcome anytime, anywhere, on the show as far as I'm concerned. I loved it when he stood up to the Chief and his incoherant mutterings along with a classic spit take had me in stitches. Same with the Nazi's rants first about McDreamy and then about how dirty they all are. Hee. Me love her.

I also loved the bartender. I think his name was Joe but I can't remember cause I immediately dubbed him Hurley Jr. On a side note: I simply can't understand why my parents gave me a funny look when I put my fingers in my ears and started humming during the Lost promos. What's so weird about that?

Of course then there's the central storyline. I'm glad that they didn't make Mrs. McDreamy a screaming witch. She seems like she's going to be an interesting one. I'm also glad that Meredith didn't jump right back into McDreamy's arms as soon as she found out that he'd lied. He still lied to her and he deserves to be punished for that. Even if he gave the single most pathetic "My wife slept with my bestfriend" story deliveries ever. Give that boy a hug! But after he suffers a bit.

So overall I was happy. Not overwhelmed or overcome but I am ready to see what happens during the rest of the season and that's always a good thing to feel when a premiere comes to an end.

On a completely dorky note I spent most of the ep geeking out because I'm in Seattle watching a show set in Seattle so all the establishing shots had me SQUEE-ing: "I was just there!" Then today I went and visited the Space Needle and while I took many a picture of Seattle I got the most excited because right underneath the Needle is the building where they film the rooftop scenes for GA. It's the top of the local ABC affiliate and I made sure to snap a few pics of that too.

I am such a geek.

In other news: Thanks for your concern about my parents. We heard that our house survived with no damage and they should be able to fly home on Wednesday without incident. Woo! *checks calendar* Only a month or so left in hurricane season. *crosses fingers*
