That's a good way to put it. I really like the pace of the show, because they raise a lot of questions, and it's not easy to see how they all come together at first. But once they start answering questions, usually when you're not expecting them, things start to unfold at the perfect pace--enough that we have some answers and want some more.
I agree with what you said about the ships. I'm not a fan of Veronica and Duncan together, but I understand why she broke up with Logan and why she's with Duncan right now. They're not as annoying as they could be, though, because I know their relationship can't possibly last too long.
I'm glad you checked it out and like it. I know some people are turned off by the, uh, devoted fandom, but I don't find it difficult to stay away from craziness.

And yeah, "If love were enough..." and then PD's voice breaking? So sad...I love that show.
