Hmm, I think my mum used to use something called Easy Share with her old camera. I'll ask her what kind of camera it was and how it worked etc.
I wish I had more of a clue but, with the camera I had a loan of, I just put the card into a card reader which plugged into the USB port and the computer recognised it. There wasn't anything to install.
Well, the one my mum gave me a loan of is about the size of a cassette and has slots for 4 different types of memory card.
When you connect it to the computer it comes up as extra disk drives (one for each slot) and you just go into the one you're using to access the photos. I don't think they're that expensive.
can you try to pug it into someone else's puter? if they have XP it might work straight away, mine did on mine! or you could go into a photo shop and ask if they can put them on a disk for you.
at least then you would know it worked!
i dont know if xp stuff would clash with your old windows, i didn't even know you could use xp stuff on other versions!
I have no idea what my sister was doing with this thing!
You have given me an idea to get my photos out of that camera at last! I'll put them on a memory card, then get a disk! *doh-oh, slaps head* I am so thick and never thought of that one! lol

it's so frustrating when stuff doesn't work!
updating a driver is easy though.
you just download the file like any other and install it.
have you updated your windows recently?

I may do what darkstones suggested and buy a card reader and use that instead. It is so frustrating though. Cheers for your help *hugs* Lx
