I saw Dawn of the Dead last night, and it occurs to me that maybe one of the underlying themes of zombie movies is the hopelessness of the individual to rise up out of and against the mob of society. Alright...I don't know how valid this will be coming from me, but I'll try. I know how you feel, having people gone and moving on and being left behind. One of my dearest friends went to college, and he came back at Christmas during my senior year, and he was so changed, I barely recognized him. I couldn't stand that he was having these amazing experiences and I was stuck in backward John Day. For the last six months of my senior year, I couldn't stand being in one place, I couldn't stand being in my own body. I had to get out. I was fortunate enough to go to college. And life really does change drastically. You just need to get out, to have a change of scenery. I'm convinced it's hormonal. When we finish high school, our instincts tell us to get the hell out of there before we go insane. You will get out. You will experience what all your friends have found. It's hard...you have it much harder than I ever did. All your friends left you behind. Don't despair. Life will change for the better ( ... )
