Pssh. Onyxia is SO last month. Everyone's in a furor on our server because one group has finally reached Ragnaros (although they wiped twice, hard, I believe.)

But I'm being a pain in the ass. Many congrats on the kill! I'm guessing you didn't win anything shiny since you didn't link anything...

We've gotten up to the Baron in MC, but on our two attempts at him we wiped pretty bad. We'll have to see how it turns out this week.

No, we didn't actually beat the game in spirit or technically. Ragnaros is would be beating the game "in spirit" because it is the hardest piece of end-game content out there. Onyxia is just one of the major end-game content items, and very hard at that, so it felt like we beat the game when we downed her.

As for getting to her, there is a very annoying quest chain (for horde, alliance gets it easy), and once you kill her one person gets to bring the head to ogrimmar and hand it in for some really nice rewards.
