So I was planning on updating this LJ periodically to talk about various things that I've done during college / this summer, since I actually had some time to this summer. Well, I guess I still have some time left. But this entry is something that's been bothering me for a bit. (Caution: long entry ahead)

I am just curious -- why did you not mention Mathcamp friends at all?

It just didn't seem to fit when I was writing this. First of all, since I was writing for a lot of this, out of frustration, I wrote about the people that have made me frustrated with friendship. Also, there's a difference between being best friends with somebody for 5 weeks and for being best friends with somebody for 5 years. It's so temporary. Even though I do keep in contact with my mathcamp friends, they didn't define my life the same way my school year friends did for most of the time. There are plenty of other people I could have written about that took up 5 weeks of my life or even longer. There was a 5 week computer science program going on this summer at Princeton for people my age, and even though I wasn't actually part of the program, I was encouraged to work in the same room as them and participate in their social activities, so those were my main friends for the summer. There's lots that I could say about those friends too, but none of it really fits the big picture timeline that I was going for with this. That was a

I see. It makes sense, of course. I guess I just have several Mathcamp friends that I have hung out with enough after camp (either online or in person) that not mentioning them in terms of friends-who-have-shaped-my-life would be very unfair and misleading.

Anyway, I am really sorry to hear about all your tribulations. I am really happy that you at least found a good group of friends in college.

1. fox lane years sucked. college is better, clearly. it's a very mixed blessing that college meant starting all over again.

Eh I wouldn't say I hate her. I kind of pity her in a way, because she's so insecure that she had to be manipulative and controlling in order to get people to hang out with her. I'm more just fed up and annoyed that because she did that, it meant they didn't hang out with me anymore.

I definitely had fun coming up with the nicknames, although I do feel bad for the important people that didn't get them. There were some people that I just couldn't think of anything for! Email/fb me and let me know who you need to know (unless you want to keep trying to figure them out yourself.)

I'm actually feeling a lot better. My voice is almost back to normal and I've stopped taking pain meds.

Reading this, I can honestly tell you that I had no idea you felt that way (aside from your animosity towards a certain someone). I'm genuinely sorry about it. If I were in your shoes, I'd feel the exact same way you do. I would never wish it upon anyone. Now, consider this. I never knew you felt that you worked a lot harder than I did to maintain our friendship. You had the opportunity to speak up at any point in time to any one of us..or all of us. Anyway... if I am unaware of this, then I don't perceive all of your past efforts as one-sided. You couldn't expect me to automatically take the complete blame for our lack of contact. As far as I'm concerned, we're equally at fault.

um.... so I never really go on livejournal... however... I love you and I'm really glad we got to know each other this year and that we still have many more years of tearful set-building and twist outings. :) just needed to tell you that. xo
