Why have morals in a world where all is about personal gain? You have to have something deeper to base them on.

You shouldn't need a reason to be a good person or have good morals. Well that's the way I see it atleast.

Although what's the point of being amoral and upsetting those around you if you want personal gain? There would be no sense in that either.

Morals are deeper meanings they have profound meaning to the person to whom the morals belong. Even if the person cannot explain why. I guess it's how you percieve the difference between right and wrong. I'm sure there have been psychopaths who believe in God for instance. Just because they believe in a higher power does not automatically mean that they adopt or even accept the morals of their God or religion. I do, however, agree that religion is a good basis for morals. You were implying God as a deeper meaning, right?
