while a week of no entertainment could prove to be an interesting time to write, take stock of certain things in your life, get the house clean, learn to knit, whatever, it doesn't immediately give you some sort of blinding insight into how hard it is to quit smoking. when i quit i was working all the time and i went home and played video games and watched movies and talked to people on the phone and answered emails and got a lot of writing done. there was never a moment where i put a bucket over my head and sat in a corner for seven days.
