Ooooh, I love post-ML Reid/Prentiss, myself. When I write them, I tend to make them a little more... sweet/sappy/fluffy than when I write him with anyone else, for whatever reason, but I can really get my claws into something more substantial when I bring Cyrus into the deal, haha.

Plus, vulnerable!Emily is someone I don't write too often, haha, so it's a challenge.

He asks. It's so earnest, so out-of-the-blue, so naked that she can't even answer him with her words. Can't tell him that it's probably a shitty idea, that he's already leaned on too many of her bruises, fingered too many of her scars. Can't tell him that his dangerously sharp brain is dulled by the hour, by the silence around them, by the forced intimacy of what they do. Can't tell him that that costs extra, costs more than either of them have in their pockets.

Can't tell him no.

I loved the whole story, but I really just wanted to quote this part because it took my breath away.
