Normally, I really don't care how I'm addressed. Some people call me 'Poetics,' others 'Christopher,' and some less reputable titles, in my out-of-office life. However, I have gone to great effort to ensure that in this professional setting, my preferred address as 'Christopher' is well-known. I'm much the same way. I'm Kristina. Not Kris, not Tina, not Krissy, not Kristy, none of that silliness. The only people who call me Kris are my immediate family members, and that's been that way all my life. Unfortunately I work at an office where there is a Kristine and a Kristina, so I've been dubbed KK. Which... I rather despise. It makes it easier on my other coworkers, but my emails and VM say Kristina and I always give my name as Kristina on the phone. It's only in the office do folks call me KK. After I leave this job, never again.

For what's it worth, I'll call Christopher if you prefer. I like it better than Chris anyway.

Oh.. anyone ever call you Topher? Because for some bizarre reason, I actually like that nickname.

I totally sympathize. I prefer Jennifer, I can live with Jenn, but only my family (and a couple of people with special permissions who aren't blood related) can call me Jennie without me feeling like they're being overly familiar with me. The other exception I make is for young children if you're below age 6 I can forgive you the lapse, otherwise I prefer Jennifer or I am okay with Jenn... I wouldn't mind a cool nickname but I've never been that lucky and I would be afraid I'd get stuck with an unflattering one.
