Due to the rather sudden influx in clumsiness, I've chosen to share a brief part of my personal case study on the creatures called Zombies, slightly modified to feel more conclusive as it's only a short bit of a larger whole, out of which most is stamped as classified to all but high-ranked OSTA personnel. The following paragraphs are on the nature ( Read more... )

Last week's scratch has closed by now. However, despite having kept it bandaged, it still aches and the skin around the cut has turned blue, as if bruised.

Have I contracted some sort of infection?

((OOC: You are a geek, you know that? XD))

Most probably; there's only a twenty percent chance that you'd be able to avoid it. Bruises are formed by broken blood-vessels clotting under unbroken skin; but blood or dead tissue surrounding an infection may begin to decompose even when an injury has closed. A good example of this is when a child swats at a mosquito and scratches open the bite, whereupon parts of the mosquito is caught in the healing tissue, and slight infection surrounds the decomposing, sick area.
Either you've not properly cleaned the injury before bandaging it and allowing it to heal, or you might indeed have contracted some form of virus. I can't give you a reliable diagnosis without being allowed to see the area in question. I would rather take a proper blood-test, if you don't much mind. Have you acquired the sample from miss Fujibayashi in Meltokio yet? If so, we'll look you over as soon as you return.

[ooc; What can I say :'> I'm a science nerd ♥ Can you expect anything less from a lass whose mother is an ex nurse and her father a biochemical/med ( ... )

I am awaiting the final teleporter configurations. Once those are completed, I will be able to head for Meltokio to meet miss Fujibayashi. It shouldn't take long.

((OOC: Heeheeh, I guess it pays off in RPs then.
At the moment, Ramirez is in the log to get the sample. *nods*))

I eagerly await both you, your peculiar little injury, and the sample. No doubt the other teams will be grateful to get their hands on the poison; I believe I'll keep focusing on the shambling dead for a while longer until we've reached some further conclusions.

[ooc; Only if you play the science-nerdy type I'm afraid xD

Though this is unrelated to your well-intended zombie report...

I realize I never did stipulate conditions on which I'd give you the bottle, which is my fault. I was just wondering if... By any chance you find a cure, some way to get the poison out of one's system, is there any chance you might be able to tell me? My life's kinda on the line here. Heh.

That's the whole point of OSTA's research division, miss Fujibayashi. To solve the problems. We're not attempting a war, merely the decimation of all these unwanted creatures, and people to live peacefully. Or at least that's the facade of things.

I assure you: when any of the teams that will analyze the contents of your sample have managed to identify the pathogens we'll work nonstop until we find some sort of remedy. You'll be among the first to receive notice, I'm sure, as your name is connected to the sample itself.

...Really?

No offense meant by my surprise and skepticism, by the way. That's just not what I expected to hear, that's all.

None taken. I know that OSTA has a bit of a reputation, and I cannot speak for the other limbs and what it has done, or what they may yet do. The head however, I may assure you, cares only for survival.

((OOC: Hmm... So Ramirez got the sample. ... Now what? XD
Is he gonna hand it to Vexen in a log, or is there gonna be a journal mention a few days from now about Ramirez's condition and the status on the poison research?))

[ooc; If you like, we can log it as the two of us haven't had a chance to play like so just yet. If you're busy however, journal mentions are just fine as well, I don't mind either way. ]

((OOC: Nah, I'm not busy. Logging would be fine by me. Do you wanna start or should I?
Also, like, I added you to my AIM list, if that's okay.))

[ooc; If you want to start up a log that's quite alright, otherwise we could play it out via AIM once we catch eachother there ♥ ]

Uh... I think I get it. So their spit thins your blood, and you get sick cause you can't heal.

I'll pass this info on to some doctors in my world. Thanks for sharing it.

Precisely so, although the viruses you might contract come from the monster itself, and usually not the surroundings. Please don't mention it: sharing for public benefit is what our research is for, after all.
