Cuddy had found herself a comfortable chair in the library and was curled up with, of all things, a book on theoretical physics. Well, if the people most likely to know these sorts of things thought they were trapped in a pocket universe, she decided she was going to do her best to understand just what the hell that was ( Read more... )

John was walking around the library, figuring he ought to explore it and see what was there. He'd been in it, sure, but he'd stayed in his own small corner, curled up with his ancient texts on demonology. He was getting a little tired of them now.

He'd just been ambling along in the spaces between shelves, until he turned a corner and came face to face with a pair of sensible shoes and a huge physics textbook. Lisa looked very, very drained. He wondered if she'd seen Dean again today, though of course he wasn't going to ask. Still, he might as well play nice. "Hello, Lisa."

She wasn't as jumpy as she had been during the first few weeks of her captivity, but she still flinched slightly when John suddenly appeared. She tried to cover it by shifting to a more upright position in the chair.

"How are you, John?" She waved her hand at the rows and rows of books. "You looking for something to read or just exploring?"

"Just looking around, really." She looked oddly nervous, though she was trying to hide it. "And I'm okay. Needed to get the hell out of my room."

He wasn't sure what else to say to her that didn't sound stupid. It had been his policy since getting here not to alienate anyone if he could help it (with House, he hadn't been able to help it). Still, they'd gotten off on the wrong foot. "What are you doing to keep busy here?" he asked belatedly, thinking of something. "Haven't seen you in a bit."

"Yeah, I know that feeling. I start getting a little stir crazy if I stay in my room too much," she said. In truth, the whole place was making her a little stir crazy but she did better when she made herself get out and do something, talk to people, anything. John, though, didn't strike her as the type for polite socializing.

"I...busy? Um.... A little of this, little of that," she managed to stutter out. His question had thrown her because of course, of all the things she'd been keeping busy with, Dean was the first thing to pop to mind and no way she was telling John that one way she'd been keeping busy was by doing his son.

"Exploring," she added quickly, because that seemed like a safe answer. "Seems like I keep finding new rooms in this place. And I'm not sure if I simply missed them before, or if the Hotel is actually adding new rooms."
