I finally added Demyx/Kairi to the pairings list, especially because they'll start showing up more now... They even get their own tag. Woo! Also, I'll be messing with the tags pretty soon, so. Be on the lookout in case you actually use them.

Evil, EVIL CLIFFHANGER!

Other than that, I think that this:

Riku had once considered becoming an architect, a long time ago, when he couldn’t decide which college to go to and what to study. He’d had talent, they’d told him, he would have been good at it. Kairi had once thought about going into teaching; she was good with kids. Axel had always thought he’d wind up working in a tattoo parlor or living on Riku’s couch. But Riku had wanted to make a difference somewhere. Kairi loved computers. Axel was an adrenaline junkie at heart

is probably one of my favorite paragraphs in the entire story. And the characterization/interactions between all of the cast members continue to be spot-on, even as the rest of the plot is both unfolding and, you know, thickening. And my love for the the AkuRoku/RiSo aside, I am absolutely smitten with the Demyx/Kairi, so refreshing to know Casey and I aren't the only ones who see the possibility of this pairing. Especially since both of them are such... understated badasses, and together they /kick/ ass.

Yah, I know, I suck, but I love cliffhangers deep in my soul. =D

That paragraph was actually thrown in as an afterthought... I needed something to tie in the "what could have been" for Riku and the others, and their backstory just kind of popped out of the woodwork. I also never thought of the Demyx/Kairi while I was planning this, that kind of sprung up on me too, and I still wasn't completely certain about it until Chapter Eleven. Now I totally just want to write all kinds of stuff about them, and I've figured out that Kairi's one of my favorite characters to write.

Also, I can't wait to write the both of them kicking ass. I have a scene planned for that.

Now I just have to see if any icons of them exist...

Alright, so this might be a bit random, but I wanted to say how much I love that you flesh Kairi out as her own character, and not just 'friend of main characters'. Because I know that a lot of fic authors do that, either because they don't want to deal with the girl who's the friend of their yaoi pairing or because they're bashing her, or just because they don't know what to do with her. But you're not doing that. She's got her own personality and motivations, and is generally all around awesome. So, I just thought I'd mention that.

Awesome chapter. I especially liked the bit where Riku was trying to reassure Sora, but didn't really know how, so just tried to tell the truth as best he could. He didn't sugarcoat it, but he wasn't all in-your-face blunt about how screwed they were.

And then Larxene shows up. Great xD

Also, I don't think I've ever read Demyx/Kairi before (I've read Demyx/Namine, though, and that was interesting), but here you make it work pretty well :)

Yeah, it always kind of bugged me that most people never give her a chance... They forget that she's a central character in both the games, and that she pretty much kicks ass in her own right. And she's got guts, according to KH2. I'm glad I'm portraying her well! She's one of my favorites to write, and I didn't think she would be!

Yeah, Riku's not too good at sugar-coating... and he's always been a little bit straight-forward. That was one of my favorite bits to write. And Larxene just reinforces how screwed they are in the best way possible.

You know, I've never read Demyx/Kairi before either. The pairing kind of just jumped up and bit me on the nose, 'cause I had her planned with someone else in the beginning. I think this story's trying to write itself!

In a way, I'm glad I haven't caught up until now. The less time living with this cliffhanger, the better.

Dem/Kai is win. It really is. And Axel disliking Demyx, that's new and entirely awesome.

I better go to bed now because it's late and I will have to go to school tomorrow, but know that there is A LOT that I'm liking in this. A lot.

Yeah, the cliffhanger makes me feel all evil and powerful and stuff. Mwaha. Mwahaha.

I always kind of figured Axel and Demyx wouldn't get along too well, just because of water and fire and all, and Axel's all "badass, rawr!" and Demyx is all "adorable, rawr!" in the games, so.
