“I hate men!” Pansy said, exasperated, as she slammed the door to the lounge and plonked down hard on the sofa.

Lavender sighed as she switched of the TV from where she had been watching ‘What Not to Wear’ and trying to think if polka dots did actually suit anyone. Eloise was already annoyed and the last thing she needed to do was infuriate the girl further by ignoring one of her best friends. “I take it your date with Harry didn’t go very well?”

“It didn’t go at all,” Pansy snarled, reaching over the back of the sofa to a cabinet and grabbing a bottle of vodka. She swigged out of the bottle and offered it to Lavender, who declined. “Why are all men arseholes Lav? It was going fine, and then Finnigan invited Harry back to band practice and he made his apologies and went!” Pansy threw her hands up in the air, fortunately remembering about the bottle settled in one of them at the last minute. “How would he rather listen to a band that can barely play than come on a date with me?” Lavender shook her head. “Precisely. He said he’d come with me. Are all men this unreliable or do I just pick arsehole all the time.?”

Lavender sighed. “Nah Pans, all men are that unreliable. Dean’s footy always comes before me.”

“Did I just hear something being said about Potter and the clink of a alcohol bottle?” Eloise asked, popping her head around the door before coming to settle on the other side of Pansy. “Potter’s at Hannah and Mione’s flat and yes please, I’d like a swig.” She took the bottle off Pansy and swung it back.

“What is he doing there?” Pansy growled, snatching the bottle of Eloise, who immediately snatched it back.

“I’ll go get some glasses…” Lavender muttered, wandering out to the kitchen and returning with three beakers.

“He was at Hermione’s computer. Had a new idea for an article apparently,” Eloise finally replied, nodding her thanks to Lavender as she passed her a glass.

“I’m going to make him wish he were dead,” Pansy said coldly. “Thanks Lav. And then I’m going to grant all his wishes and kill him.”

“What’re you less important than, Lou?” Lav asked as she was pouring the final drink. Eloise looked at her in confusion. “Well I’m less important than footy with Dean, Pans is less important than writing to Harry, what’s more important to Terry?”

Eloise thought for several seconds. “Rugby,” she said eventually. “Definitely rugby.”

Pansy raised her glass in a toast. “To becoming full time lesbians,” she announced glumly.

Three glasses clinked in agreement.
