Title: To extinguish a fire
Author: la_luna_sangra
Fandom: Law & Order: SVU
Pairing: Alex/Olivia
Rating: G (again if you don't mind femmeslash)
Genre: Angst/Romance
Spoilers: 11.08 Turmoil, the whole Witness Protection thing (sort of).
Word Count: 200
Summary: What happened after Turmoil? Well, in my version Olivia shows up at Alex’ apartment the evening after. Olivia’s POV.
Comment: My take on the crap that was Turmoil and nobody addressing the fight afterwards. However, there was something good about 11.08. Lesson learned: you can turn even the most forced EO situations into AO if you only try hard enough. ;)
"They’re good cops, but their loyalty is to each other not to you."
The words kept coming back to her. Echoing. Blustering through her mind like a raging fire threatening to burn her up from inside.
"I guess she was right."
No anger, no reproach. Only this. An accepted conclusion and the scorching spark of wounding in tired blue eyes.
"Alex, I’m -"
"Why are you here, Liv?"
Exhaustion. Distance. An entitled question though it fuelled the flames already impending to devour her with its answer so obviously laying in front of them.
"Because I love you."
A longing whisper flowing through deafening silence. A single tear going unnoticed by the hazel brown it left. There was no answer. For a heartbeat, a tormenting minute.
Then "I never thought you didn’t."
Another whisper. Silent. Lost. Right from the other side of the low burning barrier of flames. Enfolding so much more than the present.
"He wouldn’t have made it through another inspection. I’m sorry, but -"
"- you knew I would."
Realization dawning. Another tear, from blue eyes this time. And another. Raindrops slowly capturing sparks.
The soothing touch of hand on cheek.
"You should have told me."
"I know."
Before you freak with me over the end: that was not it. There will be a follow up soon. ;) Hope you liked it, comments are love.
