Man... I know how you feel. I had a dog, that I loved dearly, but she was getting old. She had hip displaysia and had trouble getting up. I was still pretty young when she couldn't really walk anymore. She was the sweetest dog in the world, and my Mom made the hard decision to euthanize her. After having to help her up with a towel under her belly for so long, it was pretty clear she was in pain. And she was a huge Golden Retriever, so there was no way to carry her if she fell and couldn't get up. I cried so hard when they went to do it, I sat at home and drew pictures of her with wings. I refused to go, but I regret that.
AUGH. Now I'm going to make myself cry. But I know what that feels like. I love animals and I would probably give myself up to save one. I really, really hope your dog gets better. Tell him I hope he gets better for me. :) <3
Thank you...tomorrow we are hopefully having the Vet come and take a look at his back left leg, which looks to be the culprit behind this. He has arthritis, but it seemed weird that yesterday he could walk and today he can't even stand. It thunderstormed during the night lastnight, and he sleeps in the kitchen; we think he might have freaked out being alone down there and hurt himself
( ... )
But my halfcousin, Veronica, has a dog I've known almost his entire life. A black mixed breed named Buster. He's completely black and looks like a mix between husky and german shepherd. I'll show picture some day. He's getting pretty old himself as he's 11-12 i think. Got a nice white beard and simply refuses to walk in stairs anymore, so he just hangs around the 1st floor. He too has been getting some old qwerks he didn't have when he was younger. And selective hearing apparently. He ca't hear you calling for him, but he can hear you unwrapping a candybar 50 feet away.
I used to spend a lot of time at Veronica's. Heck, I've even lived there for a period of time, so I know Buster pretty well. Can't say I'm looking forward for the times were he woun't be there anymore. That house is going to be awfully quiet.

Let me know what the vet says.
And I'll stop making everyone depressed now.
