У слуцких другая техника, посложнее. Но уже подмывает замахнуться, когда в эти наиграюсь :)

I like the design combination you used. Very eye-catching and shows the colours to good effect.

It wasn't just the stretchy thread, I think your tension may have been a little tight to start with, but I think the cotton yarn will definitely work better.

I'm guessing you did the bit at the end by removing warp threads from the cards and knotting them as you went.

You can get a similar, but slightly different effect by using the edge warp threads as weft and either cutting them off at the edge, or knotting them to give a more fan-shaped effect.

(I'm hoping to show you how to use the ABCD notation later today if the asthma allows. Sorting out my mother-in-laws stuff has taken a big toll on my tablet weaving time) My general plan is to show you how to use notation for simple repeating patterns and to move onto techniques for alphabets and the like when I start my Space Invaders pattern.

Thank you! It's very exciting to play with the pattern and to try new combinations.

I hope the problem of tension change will disappear in the course of time.

Yes, that was exactly what I did.

Thank you. I'll try it with the next belt.

Recently I've been reading a lot about tablet weaving and watching vids, and I think I'm beginning to understand. Somehow your explanations are clearer than anything else I've found in the Internet.

Thanks for the compliment -really appreciated.

I'm reminded of my A-level physics teacher. He was a very good teacher, because he was fresh out of university and thus struggling to learn the subject was still very fresh in his memory. Hence, he tried very hard to do explanations that he could understand himself and to help people avoid mistakes that he'd made.

The edge does look a lot better towards the end of the belt. It took you a while to get in the habit of keeping the turn direction constant on the edge cards. I used to have the same problem myself.

The edge looks awful at the beginning, because I didn't know how to make it correctly and just turned the edge cards together with the whole pack. When you explained me what to do, I decided not no unweave half the belt just because of the edge. That's why it looks so different.
