of ireland

I never quite found the time to write about Ireland so after a nice night at the Italian film fest, I felt inspired to do so again. I just randomly picked some parts to write about and I hope it doesn't bore anyone.

haha, espresso is an italian thing. believe it or not, it actually contains as much caffeine as a regular cup of coffee. It's just a super concentrated coffee drink that they brew.

Ni zui jing hao ma? =) jiayou with sch work!

i lurve the watchtower and the cliff and ocean views.
the people in the watchtower picture are so small, kinda feel awed just looking at that foto.

and the man and wife story is so sad, what happened to all the lovey dovey shit when they said "i do"? okays, im an idealist.

p/s: since i don't see u so often on msn. congrats on the house and fellowship. =)

the story of the couple is heartbreaking, the years between them.

and i disagree with your assessment of irish culture. culture in essence is made. culture evolves. is there really a singaporean culture, or should we be disappointed with ourselves for not knowing our ancestors' chinese culture?

hmm, i think that these are two different issues. I agree that culture is a human-construed concept. But Singapore is a migrant society. Naturally we expect an emergent/fusion culture that is not unique and a generation straddling between a "singaporean culture" and our ancestors' chinese culture. It is an arbitrary line, and whatever the case, chinese culture remains entrenced in China anyway. But there is one and only one Ireland. And the Irish culture has indeed endured over a very long time. It's just human nature to feel sad to see such an ancient culture marketing itself overseas as one when in fact there really isn't much left.
