I usually clean out my e-mail inbox periodically to keep the volume from getting out of hand. But in the past year, I've been so stressed out and busy with school that I've totally let it go. And now I've got over 2900 e-mails in my inbox

Back in my 604e processor days, I used to file my mail meticulously after reading it. But when I upgraded to a G3, I realized that search technology is getting better and hard drives faster. Now, with a G5, I just dump all my mail into a folder called "read mail". Every couple of days, I "file" my mail.
How often do you need to refer back to a particular piece of mail? It's the 80/20 rule in action. You're usually better off spending a little more time doing a search later then you are spending a lot of time now getting your mail all organized into folders.
