Taylor Guitars

I went to the Taylor Guitars road show last night at From the Top Studios here in Fort Fun. It was pretty cool. I won a t-shirt, had a little time to chat and play a bit with local guitar hero Dave Beagle, and decided if I don't get a T5 soon I might explode. I also got to see and hear Wayne Johnson play. He's very, very good. I met and thanked one ( Read more... )

I've decided that for a solo artist that can dial in their sound it's pretty good. But as you've seen it just doesn't mix well with a band. I think the T5 with the stacked humbucker would fix that and still give you a good acoustic quality when you needed it. Wouldn't it be nice to just use one guitar on a Sunday morning and have access to (real) acoustic and electric tones? I do.

Yeah, I have champagne tastes and a beer budget!

The street price is closer to $2000 which is still pricey but nothing compared to what keyboard players spend. My 914CE listed in 2001 at $4995 but I paid just under $3000 for it. You could get two moderately good $1000 guitars (one acoustic and one electric) but you'd have to set each one up and haul them around. The T5 is considered a higher end guitar, has better resale and has more uses for the same price. Of course I've already bought those guitars and more so this rational doesn't really work for me. :) Still it doesn't keep me from wanting one!

SO COOL! I wish Travo could have gone. So, was Dave Beagle nice? Is he going to call you next time he records or does something? Did you meet the guy who said your intonation wasn't that bad? Or was it the guy who actually fixed it?

Travis would have enjoyed it. Dave was nice but I don't even show up on his radar and I only met one of the guys from the repair shop. I wouldn't know which was which. :)
