Texas

On October 30th, about 2 1/2 years ago, Kerry and I parachuted in to Fort Fun. We had no money, jobs, or self esteem. The only thing keeping me going was a small devotion given to us as we left our former home. I reprint it here but I'm afraid I've never known the author so if one of you knows who's work this is let me know and I'll correct my post ( Read more... )

I can't believe I never knew you called it "the Raft". How awesome. The rest I'm not dealing with yet. ;)

Godspeed. Hope that your move to Texas will bring wonderful friendship and fellowship, a nice place to live, and the peace that comes from knowing you're where you should be.

Where in Texas are you headed? (I have friends & family there, so am curious)

Blessings,

Thanks for the blessing! We're moving to Midland which is a nice town. The area is pretty dry and there are no mountains but the people there have landscaped the town pretty well. It's the same size as Fort Collins so it has all the same chain stores and plenty of restaurants. The fun part for me is that I get to design all the sound/video/lighting for a newly remodeled sanctuary as well as build a new band from scratch. It's my first full time gig and I'm looking forward to pouring myself into it. Kerry gets to knock off work for a while (maybe for good) and finish her degree work. That makes me happy too ( ... )

Midland - that's definitely West Texas! My parents lived in Weatherford up until a year ago, and I have other family members in the Dallas and Houston suburbs; also friends in Mesquite and Denton.
Can't say that I'd enjoy living in the Lone Star State - too hot and humid for me. Okay for short visits, though. :)

I wish you and Kerry all the best.

Interesting to hear about the changes at First Pres. Change is good for churches - keeps things from getting stagnant. It's just unsettling to the people who feel the need to cling to the status quo for security.

As for Sarah, she'll just have to come down to Texas to see ya'll!
