Witchfinder: belated reaction post

+ Uther/Gaius! My favourite old-men-disfunctionally-married! The dynamic's changed between them now, which breaks my heart even though it's probably for the best, what with Uther being a PROPER BASTARD who has never appreciated all Gaius has done for him. I mean, not that Gaius isn't a shifty cowardly bastard himself sometimes, but his regard for Uther has always been a constant. Anyhow, Uther's lost his last friend, and we're going to get to a ridic sit. where Morgana's going to be all "ra, I kill Uther now", and pretty much all of Camelot will say "me too pls".

+ Wait, probably NOT. Because Morgana's apparently become really difficult for the writers to portray. She's a) invisible, b) becoming increasingly helpless with each week. s1 Morgana would have sat up with a poker face and given Charles Dance some sharp answers - being reduced to quivering in her chair feels so OOC. I get that the magic is making her feel out of her depth, but Morgana's a fighter and even when she's not in control, she tries to master the situation. And having given her the magic, how about she gets to use it rather than making it a just a pointless lump of angst to saddle her with? It's getting absurd, but I fear won't even be rectified for another few episodes, as I can't see the upcoming stuff involving her much. Unless Morgana gets a romantic storyline with Morgause, which SHOULD HAPPEN.

Still, at least this moment was nice, and involved Morgana being half-dressed with a nestling Gwen.

+ And for all they're slipping on Morgana, they're doing brilliant things with Gwen. I adored her and interactions this week, with the Merlin/Gwen Detective Agency (open all hours except for when said detectives are clearing up after their employers), and then the Arthur/Gwen thing. With Gwen realising this is going down exactly like how it did with her father, and desperately trying to save Morgana (because she must be sussing it out, srsly), and trying to get through to Arthur in any way possible. In a way it's one of the first times we're seeing her work from self-motivation - obvs it's about Gaius, and Morgana, et al, but it's also about her finally getting the satisfaction of seeing a fair trial and pulling one on over Uther. I also love the way they've been developing the A/G relationship - having established there's a mutual attraction there, they've stepped back and are just concentrating on building their friendship/characters.

+ And this bit made me quivery. He's right there in Merlin's ears.
