Flash and Trash Prom

May 13, 2007 21:36

I am trying to remember who it was that told me never, out of all the libations in the world, get drunk on beer and why I didn’t listen to them.
Ouch!
Last night I attended my first prom!
I know, I’m not American and a little older *cough* than the customary prom age of 17, but this was a fundraiser for Shalimar Productions, to send them off with ( Read more... )

*chuckles* I am, aren't I!
They do deserve a little a leg pulling for frequent piss-takes of my accent and not understanding nor appreciating the concept of the Crumpet. ; P
Have you attended any proms here yet? It has to be done.

Oh, on an unrelated note, I wanted to ask you if you recommend the place you stayed at in Bamburgh? If so, please can you let me know the name?
Your post has inspired a two night stopover on the way to Edinburgh in July. : D

I don't know, I have heard they have started adding it to reasons to detain Americans from coming through customs in the UK. And for God's sake whatever you do, don't say to Security that 'it is like an English muffin' ! Instant fine I have heard ; P
I shall bring some back from my next trip home and give you proper instruction. We shall need proper tea and a good paperbacks to go with the lesson.

Looks like fun! But there are definitely better things to drink than beer...like tequila, for instance ;) Beer seems too much like food to me, too filling and not up to standard. Nice to see the pictures :)

Brooklyn Brewery are very gracious in sponsoring the Shalimar events and putting on a free beer bar, so they can't look a gift horse in the mouth.... or beer keg in the nozzle.
Thank you.
Do you have any prom stories to share, hmm?

I never went to a prom. That's my story, but who knows what the future may bring?

Hey, I'm a Brit, who is slightly past the usual age for attending a Prom, so if I can go, you can too!
There will be another next year, (there is one every year ) I will let you know, in case you are around these parts.

"[Sing] Oooooooh, baby baby
You don't know what I've been going through
Sing it again now. Oooooooh, baby baby
It's obvious to see exactly what I need

One of those days
When the sun is shining bright
And my life is going right
And the simple things are not wasted

One of those days
When you're cruising in your car
And you're out to see the stars
And it's warm outside and beautiful"

Just saw Kinky Boots for the first time. Must now go search out others with him in them.

Hey've you seen Hot Fuzz yet? I really wanna & haven't yet.

Yes! I thought of you when I saw it. Not as good as Shaun of the Dead of course, but I was so homesick and longing to hear English jokes I almost wept and had a little accident on the seat.
I think it's still on at Cobble Hill cinemas, which is a sweet picture house experience in itself.

I have yet to see Kinky Boots, do you recommend?
This is some of Nick at his best:

You look amazing. You remind me of Tilda Swinton in Orlando! Looks like an amusing occasion...

*blushes to her roots* Thank you. I confess you are not the first person to mention the Tilda Swinton resemblance.
I heard proms are becoming more popular over on our shores these days. If you get the chance, I recommend going, dressing in an outrageous frock and taking it all in with your tongue firmly stapled to the inside of your cheek. ; )
