i reallllly was thinking the same thing lately, and we just found out my mom has cancer and she's only 39, and it's like, you can't blame yourself in any way for it, it's one of those things that just.. happens. it's not because you did something bad, i don't think that's how karma works. just live your life and try to keep doing good things, and your energy will come back around.
anyway, yeah basically try not to think what happens to your family is because of you, you will go crazy.
