I think Paul comes from a generation where such things are considered light-hearted and not icky. By which I mean I don't think he's being a butthead on purpose.

Kitchen Confidential (and its follow up, A Cook's Tour fucking ROCKS, yo. I am Anthony Bourdain's mise en place ho. Yet I can't work up enthusiasm for the TV show. I'm weird, I know.

I bought mooncakes at the local world market. They had HUGE boxes of regular-sized ones with red bean paste in them and small boxes of 4 mini ones with lotus seed filling. I took the minis ($3 vs other at $15) and was quite pleased.

I'll look for the candy next time. Is it creamy or caramelly?

I find that when people do things like that, they usually don't mean any offense and don't even know that the things they do are offensive. I find it funny that right underneath Newman's Fu Manchu is the "Lighten Up" label.

I don't think you're weird. You don't watch much TV in the first place. Kitchen Confidential is not quite must-see TV yet, but I hope it'll improve.

I'm glad you like the mooncakes (and were able to find them!). My favorite filling is the lotus seed paste. Red bean paste is also very good.

White Rabbit candy is creamy. The literal translation of the candy is "Big White Rabbit Milk Candy". I grew up eating it.

Oh Paul, Paul - where did it all go so wrong? One can only hope that he didn't approve the design. Or has gone insane. Or someone kidnapped the real Paul Newman long ago and replaced him with this "comedy" version.
