School and Work

So, dear flist, I have sort of an open ended question for all of you.

Ideally, how much of one's focus should be on school compared to work?  Does this change based on one's age and financial situation?

I am kind of restructuring my life lately, and a lot of it is still up in the air, but basically this is one of the big questions that keeps coming ( Read more... )

Definitely agreed! Yeah, I think it is really something that changes throughout life, no hard and fast timeline.

Thanks for the input =)

I think it changes with age and the "oh crap! im almost done, I need a job" ;). As an artist, my work can't suffer when also focusing on a job I would like to have when I am out of school. These final years of college become the portfolio of my work to get me the job I want and a project to work on for sometime until I find a new interest to explore ( ... )

Thanks so much for putting so much thought into this for me Steph =D Yeah, ultimiately, I will definitely take any job offer that seems awesome to me. I don't know, the Unity Job is just becoming less and less appealing with the way they are dragging me along, so I'm kind of hoping I find something else before they eventually get back to me. Thanks again for the input =)

I'm facing this same sort of delimma as I think about grad school next fall, and whether I want to be a full time student or a part-time who's also working full-time. It's hard to come even close to a decision. =/

I know, it's really hard to know which is the right decision, right? I mean, they both seem like really logical choices...Best of luck to you, I know you will rock off their socks at whatever job/grad program you end up with =D

Hmm...it depends on if you are going to school to ultimately have a better career? Right now, I'm not in school but I would like to be. I found out that private college will give you free tuition if you work for them, and so I like the idea of combining work and school. However, I have some loose ends to tie up at my current job before I pursue that path.

Also, I have no idea what I want to do with my life, other than graduate school just so I can say "HERE IS PRETTY DIPLOMA PLZ TO GIVE ME MORE MONIES" when I apply somewhere.

Um...I have no idea if this answered your question. :)
