Messenger name: Kaitou Marina
Character's full name: Yoshitaka "Maora" Ichinomiya
Series: Shinshi Doumei Cross
Sex: Male
Age: 16
Personality: Maora is, in the very words of his creator, "eccentric." His full name is actually Yoshitaka Ichinomiya, but he instead goes by "Maora (which is an abbreviation for a "spell" from an anime that is kind of used as this character's catchphrase)." He has a strange habit of making food for himself or others to diffuse tense situations XD He is the brains of the student council that he is a member of, and is good at remembering tons of information, personal and otherwise. More often than not, however, Maora uses his brain for more devious things, and this is most likely the root of his eccentricity.
He can be frequently found meddling in the affairs of others, spinning little webs to matchmake people, getting things to go his way or manipulating people with blackmail to collect info. He takes a request to learn more about the school in the plot and uses it as a chance to disguise himself as a postman in order to have two personas to assume around his classmates.
All of this makes him sound like a schemer, but mostly this is done light-heartedly. Maora is all-around a cheerful, bright person who enjoys fun things most. A great deal of his machinations are to make those he cares about happy. When Maora cares, it's a deep, forever thing. When someone he likes hates him, it upsets him greatly and he will do anything to get them to like him instead.
He's a very sensitive individual who takes things very close to heart. He cries easily if he's hurt by someone. When he was younger and he decided to marry his best (guy) friend Maguri, their fathers laughed and told them that guys can't get married. When this caused Maguri to sulk and draw away from Maora, he started dressing like a girl in order to wait for Maguri to come around (and this is one of Maora's major quirks. Most of the time, he is dressed and made-up and acts like a girl). This incident leads to a bit of a conflict between Maora and Maguri, and he becomes very standoffish and mocking toward his friend outwardly, while inwardly he affectionately and frustratedly waits. The author describes it as a "cat and dog" relationship XD
Despite this sensitivity, or perhaps because of it, Maora does have a darker side to his personality. As I mentioned before, he's rather manipulative and when he decides to put this to selfish means, he can be extremely brutal. He is not above cheating to get things to go his way, will backstab people to hurt them and others and can be very biting and hurtful in his language. When he's doing these things however, it's clear that he's hurting himself as much as he's hurting others. Also, he occasionally suffers from misdirected feelings. When he loses patience with the student council president "Shizumasa" (for constantly hurting the main girl character, Haine) and Maguri (for both being in love with "Shizumasa" and for crushing on Maora's male postman disguise, rather than Maora in general), he concocts a plan to steal Haine away from "Shizumasa," claiming to have fallen in love with her. In truth, he grew very affectionate toward her because her clumsy foolishness reminded him of Maguri and he wanted to lash out at "Shizumasa" because he had hurt both of them. Haine resolves the situation however and Maora comes out the better for it. But this incident clearly illustrates the more fiendish side of Maora. Overall though, he's a good person.
