Breach

Just watched Breach last night - the film about the investigation & capture of Robert Hanssen, the FBI spy who was captured in 2001. You know, for a movie to make you react like this, it must be REALLY good.

The actor playing the "asshole," as you say, intrigued me because he's been cast in this sort of role before. He must have done an awesome job!

I could go on and on about all the religious stuff you're talking about, but I'd rather not. Too depressing. Suffice it to say, I agree in spades!

I thought the movie was good. It's an intense personal drama, and I took a class from Hanssen's daughter in college so there is a personal interest there for me. Chris Cooper did an amazing job playing Hanssen, and I think Ryan Philippe did as well, showing the effects on one's integrity and sense of self of being around that kind of person.

Yeah Christians, the best and worst walking advertisements for the faith. Am told it was St. Francis that said you should seek at every turn to convince people to come to Christ, and only if you really have to - use words. Okay so I totally mangled that - basically live by example (a real faith, though) and others will be attracted to you and what gives you the peace you have - without having to in anyway force it on them. Just finished reading a book called How the Irish Saved Civilization (basically the copied any manuscript they could get their hands on, many times. And when Rome fell and Europe was lost in the Dark Ages, it was from the Irish that literature, learning and a wealth of books were reintroduced. It was also noted in the book that Ireland is the only nation that was converted to Christianinty without bloodshed. St.Patrick never condemned their pagan practices but taught and lived with them in such a way as to win them over. Okay, way more than you probably ever wanted to hear, but I always hated being "evangelized" ( ... )
