Something I'd never thought I'd miss...

Wetherspoons. Well, cheap locals anyway. Spending the majority of my time either alone in the house, with French speaking people or with a French speaking child makes me crave grown up, English speaking company. Add to this that my working day is normally around 5pm - 8pm, when the evening arrives I'm wide awake but I have nothing to do ( Read more... )

Have you seen Band a Part? Godard, film, also in the awfully drab Parisian suburbs. Your post sounds familiar to me, reminds me of my sojourn on German farms..

wow, I thought you were much closer (ie Paris being more reachable, if that's a word) than me. For me it takes about 40 minutes to get to the Invalides plus the 20 minute walk to the train station which I think is great (because I don't depend on a bus to get there or to my French course for that matter). all of the au pairs here (that's 3 excluding me) are unhappy about being in a suburb, maybe I am easier to please?? or I am used to a lot more, possibly, after all I spent a year in the middle of Wisconsin in the States and almost four in Stirling, Scotland with only one or two decent places to hang out at night (one could also count the cheesy music nightclubs, but I won't).

I guess I am quite tired in the evenings, also because I get up at 7am...

anyway, regarding Monday, yeah, I'd like to meet in Versailles! What about 11am or so? my train arrives at versailles chantier, perhaps we could meet thereabouts?
