Well, given how much of Raiders was an homage to Casablanca ANYWAY... seriously, there are some frame-by-frame comparisons, along with the overall feel of certain scenes. "You wanna talk to God? Let's go see him together" maps PERFECTLY TO "Aren't you goin' home, Mr. Rick?" "No." "You ever goin' home?"
yes, I am a HUGE NERD about this. it gives me joy.
I've written in both fandoms and I have to agree with you. BTW did I point you to the AMAZING Yuletide gift I received that has, um, an American archaeologist walking into a bar? If not, do yourself a favor and read Indiana Jones and the Standard of Dishonour at http://archiveofourown.org/works/141278
That? Was the stuff that dreams are made of! I left a nice comment for the author, too.
er. Have I mentioned my theory that Rick Blaine is actually a still-amnesiac Corwin of Amber? The voices correspond, and I can call on supporting historical evidence from Corwin's patternwalk to suggest that it's plausible. Imagine the MULTILAYER crossover there.
Wasn't it wonderful? THAT'S what fic should be and it MADE my Yuletide, and 'that other' holiday, as well. The author even included a shout-out to one of my stories. Wow.
And they do say everybody comes to rick's *large evil grin*
