And now I am both terribly excited and terribly depressed. Excited because of the possibility of 2 new books from my favorite mystery authors and depressed because there is absolutely no way for me to attend Bouchercon. Life, what a bitch and tease.
Getting out to a conference is fun, but it's certainly not doable for everyone, especially when the conference is in another country. Heck, with today's situation, who knows if you'd be allowed back into your own country?! So while it would be amazing to see you, I certainly understand that it's not doable for 99% of our readers. I mean, I wish I could do it for my fav authors, but it's not doable for me either! :)
Kentucky is one of 6 states that hasn't implemented the REALID driver's license system so getting on a flight in or out of the country is somewhat problematic at the moment. Fortunately for me, I have a valid passport and passport card so I wouldn't have a problem but without one it is a minor nightmare. And that doesn't even begin to address the current issues of who is or isn't "acceptable." (it changes daily.)(it pisses me off.)
Hey, it pisses me off. Yes, I'm minorly inconvenienced because I liked to travel to the US for holidays and shopping and I'm not setting foot in your country now. But for those trying to escape hell or coming to be reunited with family, this is a major, life-changing disaster. I look forward to the US becoming a county to respect again someday, but I suspect that's at least 3 3/4 years away. Hopefully. God help us all if it's more.
