Author's Notes: I've tried to describe the real life settings in Chicago to the best of my abilities. The University of Chicago's Oriental Institute is a neat place to visit, well worth a look even though the collection is quite small. The lamassu is enormous, and one of the most striking exhibits. I took extensive liberties with the layout of the Congress Plaza Hotel. It's situated on the harbor and the Gold Room is real, but everything else is just a product of my imagination.

This did not disappoint.

Nuclear apocalypse, fifteen year-old girls, gigantic human-headed winged bulls from the Netherworld... nothing can keep an overdressed faerie narcissist down.
And:
Mournfully, I stared in the direction Sarah had gone. "I never even had a chance, did I?"

ROFL!!
This was an exquisite adventure. Man, as a writer, I'm insanely jealous of what you've produced. As a reader, I'm in that happy place where you've just read a fantastic story and the world you've escaped to still lingers.
You captured everyone perfectly. Ah. Well done, you!

If you're ever in the Chicago area, I highly recommend a visit to the Oriental Institute, then. It's got all the stuff mentioned in the story and a very cool collection for relatively small museum.
