That first crystal Jareth gave to Ali, some time ago now, is still--in his mind--a reliable means of contacting her. She has placed such prohibitions on entering her world, after all, and yet of her own volition she brought something into her world through which he can speak. It's the most reliable communication he can hope for at the moment; and, this time at least, it works. When Ali takes it from its hiding place drawer, Jareth is presented with a view of her office. Seems she hasn't moved it to a new spot lately; also, he might notice that she was working.

"Hello Jareth." Ali sets the crystal on her desk amidst her books and papers (it's anyone's guess how environmental sciences and poetry go together) and sits down again. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

He takes in the crystal's surroundings with a glance, favoring her with a smile all the while. "Ali, the pleasure is mine. I thought to solicit your opinion on a little domestic matter, if you've the time for it."

With him, "a little domestic matter" could mean a lot of things; but knowing how little he likes the thought of her fighting, she doesn't think she needs to arm herself for the encounter.

"I'd be happy to help," she assures him with a smile, "and will be along in just a moment, unless the matter would be more easily resolved if I brought more than my sparkling wit?"
