café is starting on a project!

The Notebook Project
ABOUT:
The Notebook Project is the very first café project, and is targeted at secondary school students. Its aim is to raise funds for café to use in future projects. We also hope to publicise café and raise funds for Worldvision (which will go towards helping impoverished children, families and communities), as well as gain experience for planning projects on a larger scale in the future.
Through the Notebook Project, café's resident artists will decorate and redesign the covers of new notebooks, to be sold at secondary schools. Notebooks belonging to our customers can also be handed over to our artists to be redecorated, or empty notebooks can be traded in for pre-decorated ones at a discounted price.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Right now café is looking for original notebook designs! We need as many designs as possible, and your contributions would be greatly appreciated. (:
REQUIREMENTS:
- Your designs will be subject to approval by café, so a minimum of 3 designs must be submitted, to allow us to properly judge your work.
- We would much prefer it if your designs come in a series that follows a certain theme/style.
- Each series should have at least 3 designs
- If you plan to have several designs in a series, but are not able to produce all the designs by the deadline, then 2 samples from each series will do.
- Subject matter is up to the artist, but please exercise discretion: preferably nothing too offensive or explicit (i.e. swear words and anti-government messages are out of the question).
- Bear in mind that your target audience is secondary school teenagers (13-16 years old).
- The notebooks will be A5-sized (148 x 210mm) and very possibly spiral bound, so please ensure that your designs will fit onto an A5 notebook cover and are feasible to create. The cover will most probably be made of card, not of the glossy variety, to facilitate painting etc.
- All feasible mediums are encouraged (e.g. dried green beans or paint).
- Photographs and computer-related graphic designs are also accepted.
- Please note that your photographs and computer graphics should be able to fit on an A5-sized notebook like so:
(The photograph may be rotated to fit the space available.)
- For optimum quality, it is recommended that your computer graphics are 426 by 284 pixels in size.
- Materials should be obtainable and of reasonable cost.
- For 3-D mediums, the finished product should be constructed securely, such that none of the materials are liable to fall off or shift around.
- Please do note that the notebook covers will be put together by hand.

Series Beta - Geometry. Playing with ordinary geometrical shapes, but arranging them in extraordinary ways to show patterns and different points of view.
Series Charlie - Mass Media. Various images from the mass media, to show the influence of the mass media on teenagers today.
Title/Description of Design:
Design 1 (or title):. Made using poster paints.

Etc.
