Watching propaganda at Mike's house tonight (brought to you by the one and only Warner Brothers) was shocking and hilarious. "I'm in the Nazi's hair!" sang the Gremlins. Kerim's Turkish nuts (...roasted nuts) were greatly enjoyed. Nick's Corn Nuts from Win Dixie confused us all. Andrew's packing-for-6-weeks that only took him an hour was funny. ( Read more... )

Por favor, explain why you are calling Gremlins propaganda?

There is a quote by Keats: "If poetry does not come as easily as leaves to a tree, it had better not come at all." I still think he is a pompous prick for that. It is wonderful when a person need not see writing as a task, but even if it were, please don't let that discourage you from undertaking it.

'Twas wartime prop, and the gremlins played a somewhat arbitrary, trivial role.

Hmmmm assuming he was just talking about poetry, I agree to a certain extent; after all, poetry and prose differ greatly. Poetry requires a different mindset to some degree I think. Writing used to be a task for me because I struggled with feelings of inadequacy. I always will but now, especially since school got out, writing has developed into a joy and a steady hobby. It's maintaing its momentum, perhaps because now that I have relatively few responsibilities, there's much more time for reflection and/or introspection. Who knows. Either way, like you said, indeed I shant allow potential obligatory feelings to obstruct my writing.
