I saw Being John Malchovich a while ago when it first came out on video. It was thought provoking for me, but I was a bit too young to understand some of the more complicated concepts. I should probably watch it again.
The writer for that movie also wrote the screenplay for Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which I believe also explored the human subconscious through memories... I don't think it or any movie can really describe it accurately.) My friend considers him the most prolific and promising screenwriter in Hollywood.
