Hearing people fight makes me anxious and stressed. I guess I just don't trust adults not to take it too far... Throwing an entire plate of food against the wall. Somebody physically threatening someone else. Someone getting slapped. Someone getting a knife or a gun.

But I'm also nosey as fuck. So I listen from a distance.

I read a piece recently about saying "I love you" in the middle of a fight. Just to take it down a notch. I kind of loved it. I might get more mad if someone did that to me, depending on the fight. I could see myself coming back with something really mature like, "If you did love me, you wouldn't x."

Andres and I were fighting loudly in his condo once; his upstairs neighbor came down and told us to quiet down. That was our last huge fight. It was over two years ago. We don't fight much, but we argue a couple times a month. The arguments never last more than half an hour. Usually I'm wrong.
