Pretty damn good. I've been getting my maxilogging up, although I'm focusing on taking additional classes and switching from specimen control area to the other part of NIDA - certifying with the rest of the good people under Nabil's leadership. Jonathan has probably advanced the most, although that is kind of expected since he does nothing *but* maxilog - but he probably goes at 150 an hour now. I'm still struggling to go over 100 an hour myself, but I do opening, micro, maxi, loadbuilding..I do everything and, according to joey, do it all reasonably well; Are you going to stage a come-back any time soon? There have been like.. 10 people since you've left, and they're all gone now. Seems like most don't stay longer than a day. That fellow who was interviewing with us.. remember him? He came back and worked for maybe a day - then took his lunch and never returned. Sort of became a big joke in nida for a while.. Things are pretty quiet right now..Portland and Seattle have been re-directed to other labs (thats minus 350 samples or so a ( ... )

well that's nice to here..

i don't think i'm coming back. I was asked to. I left because my mother was sick and I had to take some time off to go to Minnesota to be with her. She's doing okay but then again if she does fall ill i'll have to go back. So my schedule was rocky. I told Joey that the future was unsure so instead of staying there I just decided to leave. Of course, I didn't take my lunch break and walk out.. LOL... They tried to get me back but... obviously my priorities with my mother is more important.
So.. instead i've decided to start school since, i'm not really doing anything but waiting around to see if my mother becomes well again. Good luck at your job hon. Hopefully everything turns out well for you..

Good to see that you're still alive. I almost started to wonder, but then, you make a habit of falling off the face of the planet.

I work by night, I sleep by day. Life is otherwise uneventful, save for the occasional spilled sample that reeks to high heaven.

Oh, and to clarify all of this, I test (or rather, aid in the lengthy and arduous process of testing) people for drugs.

Oh my. I feel for you in your line of work.

Life here is relatively uneventful -- at least I have a roof over my head, occasional (but well-paying) work and a stack of CDs taller than myself.

Here is the rundown: If you're into collecting/wearing anything pre-60s and you're fairly serious about it, there is just about one event in LA for you to attend. It happens several times a year at the civic center of the city of santa monica, and its next occurance is slated for the days of october the 18th as well as the 19th. From my past visits to this event I can tell you that the prices are not for the faint of heart and the merchandise, whilst lovely to oogle at times, rarely hits our desired area (1915-1927) Most of the stuff is either lavishly victorian or leaning towards cholobilly tripe.

Surprisingly fun, yes.. In part due to Julian, whom I personally believe to be Truman Capote in a rather shabby disguise. Possibly due to the presense of Kevin Jones, curator of the FIDM museum and quite likely the most fabulous man alive! There is a lot of beautiful clothing and dealers who come from as far away as new york to show off their wares. In my personal experience, I've not been able to find exactly what we had been looking for at the time..and the prices were kind of steep for those of us used to the luxuries of ebay (that dress was only $50 or so..and its in minty-fresh condition..) But then, if we see something we really want, money is no - well, not much of an object.
